Coming back from Billing yesterday I noticed that every so often my temp. gauge fluctuated from low to normal, the engine seemed slightly rough when this happened.

Any ideas?

Geoff.

Well i've just done a search - seems to be a common problem. Temp. sensor needs cleaning or replacing etc. So should be able to sort it.

Might just be a dodgy connection (not just dirty) - mine did this just before it broke off. S'pose it has a hard life sat directly behind the fan ;)

Don't forget that engine temp and guage temp are fed by two different senders (single connection one is guage temp). If the engine ran rough at the same time, that would imply the ECU didn't know what temp the water was at either..

Perhaps you had a few airlocks traversing the system? (As the senders fall into air the temp guage will appear to go down, and the engine won't know what temperature the water is at anymore, so will go into 'cold running' mode).. How's your water level?

Thanks for advice. I did a clean up on the sensor sender/connection etc. - and all seems OK now.

Geoff.
