This Billing weekend revealed both the best and the very worst types of behavior from so called car enthusiast. To anyone who did not attend you were spared the experience of the “worst kind of behavior”

 

Friday night's good humor and anticipation of a good weekend sadly for Zedworld at least was very short lived.

 

Very soon after the marquee was set up early on the Saturday morning, we suffered abuse , cat calling, slagging, whatever! fake phone calls to our mobile and a seriously offensive message left on a voice mail anonymously! and all from forum members or forum member's friend's! who used the many cars and crowds as cover to hide themselves.

 

The message was left late Saturday morning during part of the worst shouting and cat calling, whilst we had customers attempting to look around the stall, as I was busy with trying to serve and assist customers, keep a security check on my own zed and watching out for what seemed like an inevitable flash point so I did not answer the phone, however my young daughter who came along to help on the stall did! the message she heard is printed below in upper case to demonstrate some of the impact it had on my young daughter.

 

(Background noise of cars and tannoy announcement also clearly includes a female voice saying no you can not say that followed by laughing of other people involved)

 

Male voice (Northern Accent)

 

“I KNOW WERE YOU LIVE! ............. I NOW YOUR NAME.....................................................

 

I AM GOING TO SLICE YOUR F&CKING FACE OFF AND CUT YOU UP AND EAT YOU”

 

(Laughing and line cuts off )

 

The call was made anonymously

 

 

Now consider for a moment that my young daughter listen to this? how would any father feel when his daughter is upset by something like this?

 

“Orange” mallicious call control and West midlands police are to be dealing with this.

 

The day progressed in much the same manner but with the exception of more and more customers / forum members wanting to distance them self from what was happening and agreeing it was out of order, especially after hearing the message that had been left.

 

Whilst it was some times tense and intimidating as a company any kind of reaction is NOT possible and this in itself is frustrating and annoying.

 

At the end of the first day (Saturday) we left at around 7:00pm the whole stock had been removed from the stall back to the hire van because of security worries, however the marque was quite large (3 hours to put up) and so was left secured and closed up. Shortly after leaving we have been informed that the marquee was opened up and used as a make shift bar and barbecue area. An adjacent trader was unaware that these people should not of been in there and so did not call security despite the place been generally trashed till the early hours.

 

As we arrived Sunday morning one of the organiser`s spoke to me and explained what had happened, he was so disgusted with how the marquee had been left that he asked the site cleaner to clean it up before we got there He was also very angry that all the organising he had done had been abused and was squarely directing the blame on 300 zx forum members who he knew were responsible.

 

There was still an amount of rubbish and beer cans that we had to clear up, securing roof ties were missing and ground pegs pulled up, and the worst of it was a deliberate act of criminal vandalism...the rear of the marquee had been slashed!

 

Casual observers of the nights events have mentioned many faces and names of FORUM MEMBERS who were in the marquee you know who you are!

 

A moment of pause whilst we looked at the marquee and to decide what to do?.... weeks of preparation, hundreds of pound's spent in stock, hire van, hotel cost's all for this! whilst we surveyed the situation a selection of forum members looked on smirking and whispering right in front of the marquee. Well sorry guys you did not win because despite all your efforts we carried on.

 

Cat calling and barking sounds??? etc. was still a feature of the day but you do get used to it after a bit .....I know this thread has gone on, but this is a serious issue that has much bigger long term implications for the forum and the forum's reputation for future traders and new members.

 

I was visited by Andrew Glen (Chairman of this forum) who was moving around the show and explaining on how the future of the forum is heading, with better rules and regulation, more club type activity and less slagging off. Can you image his surprise at what I had to tell him what had gone on and let him hear the message I was left!

 

Always the same problem whether it be a car show or the school play ground a small minority spoil it for the rest, The forum reputation has been damaged by this and that is no doubt, we had to have Billing security take a look at the criminal damage to the Marquee to support a police statement. Both local and the main organisers mentioned 300zx forum members by description, and that it had been the worst weekend for bad behavior this year! I can see from what I have been told that the 300zx forum getting banned from these events if this continues and that's what I meant by the few spoiling it for everyone else.

 

Oh and the marquee was not mine but borrowed from a fellow Zed owner!

 

I will take this opportunity to thank the many customers and forum members who did business with us or just gave support, and finally to the people involved, you know who you are, all who witnessed it know who you are, so what was the point? a weekend ruined

Ps Martin F I see you moved another forum members post to non subscribed area that had made mention to this...why? if your only concern is it will put off new members then I think you are wrong let them decide for themselves, Andrew Glen gave me the impression that positive action and more defined guidelines are the way forward, but it will take some time to impliment why not start now by NOT move this post.

My post was no implication to yourself but a serious concern for the forum reputation and maybe a little towards perhaps smoking out the culprit`s, not and I repeat not to suggest you damaged the marquee, if it looks like that I appologise.

 

You made the effort to come to me to bring to an end the mini fued that has got out of hand between us and for that no one can commend you more than myself.

 

I agrre there was an awkward momentas we met but be fair it was unlikely to be any other way, all credit to Lynsay who insisted on settling it and got you to come back respect there.

 

Do not leave this forum, you needed here, and let`s not have a vote on it there is no need, Andy we shook hands yesterday and without out too much hassle concidering, could of been worse! I sincerly hope that it is over and we can get on as we all should, I will PM you now to be sure you see this thread quickly as I want you to know all is ok.

As you can probably work out, I went over to Jeff's stand yesterday afternoon to put an end to all this. I left it till then as I didn't want to do it in front of any of his customers. When I first approached you, your wife was incredibly rude to lynsay - so much so I initially walked away. Yes you were upset by what had happened BUT I seem to remember 'innocent until proven guilty' - we'll see....

 

I'd also like to thank everyone else, again 'innocent until proven guilty' springs to mind. You want me to Fuck off? Well, if you REALLY believe I caused any damage then ok - but now you've heard both sides of the story? Although now I feel like I'm not really wanted around here now, which is a shame really.

 

So put it to the vote - andyduff, ban him or not?

Ok fair enough. As was said yesterday, lets put an end to all this. I hope you find the culprits of the damage asap. Billing was a good weekend, its a real shame it was tainted by what happened, but I'd also like to add I was no part of it - although I do appologise for my mates behaviour.

Andy,i for one do not think you should be banned,i am a great believer in inocent till proven guilty,but you must admit that,and you have said,your mates were out of order on the saturday,then what with the trouble on sat night /sunday mornin it would only be human nature to make assumptons as to who might have done this,we have all in the past at one time or other made assumptions of others,just look at what has gone on on here over the last few months,then whats happened over weekend,then bingo ,fingers get pointed at whoever,i just hope some good comes of this and that everyone can get on,you and Jeff give valuble time and put in a lot of effort to assist and go out of your way for members and non members,thats great,that is what its all about,i would hate it for either of you not to be on here giving and helping with your combined knowledge,i hope things calm down for the good of all and the club,its growing all the time and can become a great place for sharing knowledge and experiences,and i hope that you and Jeff have now buried the hatchet and things can move on peacefully.Tony;)

Both of you are invaluable to this site both technically and with your hands on work (I have mentioned this before!!!) :D Neither of you should be lost from this site and I'm really happy that Andy and Jeff have sorted things out.

Yes I was one of them but did no more than leave a couple of beer cans on the side. It was a good shelter from the rain and enjoyed by a number of people. No intent was made.

I moved it to the subscribed area as I really didn't want to introduce newbies to this. Its not a great introduction to the club and this does reflex on us all. We (mods) also had requests to close or delete as this could explode into another anti/pro jeff thread which I dont want. I still personally don't know what its doing on here but still.

I am sorry, I dont really care for Jeff this and Andy that and bloody Emero whatever. Adults. Can look after themselves.

 

If someone, anyone called my telephone and told one of my daughters that they knew who they were and are going to have their faces cut off I would make it my business to hunt them down and they would know trouble.

very tired after organising the whole event and don't really feel like sitting at a keyboard at the moment but would just like to say why didn't someone come up to me and ask if they could have used the Z Clubs marque for the saturday night instead of using jeff's as surely from what ihave read so far it was obvious that as the night went on some thing was bound to go off

as regards zedworlds marquee being on the forums plot it wasns't it was on the traders area that I set up so that the Z&ZX traders were next to both Z related clubs it was only that i was the main organiser of the show that this happened other wise the z traders would have been amoung the general traders

 

I would also imform you all that I was the person who told jeff that it was forum members who were using his marquee a during the night and if I had known the names of the people in there I would have told him them

 

would not a goodwill jesture of a small donation, from the all people who used the marquee during the night, to jeff to help cover the cost of repairing the damage and before any one says it wasn't me who did it, look at it as a payment for using his marquee for the night

 

like to close on a thank you to all the people who came to billing for the show even though the weather was shite

it made the seven months of working on it all worth while

The post below is from my wife who has to my knowledge never posted here before or got involved with the forum in any other way except hearing about posts.

 

Unusual I know but I do think it is fair she has a say, because the treatment that was targeted at me also was received by my wife and daughter.

 

Lynda has expressed her hope that no more of this type of behavior happens and despite what she was subjected to does support the continuation of the forum growth.

 

 

 

Hello everyone I’m Jeff's wife Lynda.. After the events that unfolded over the weekend I feel that a few things need to be said. Firstly thank you to all old and new customers that supported us during the event as I know a lot of you from the workshop. Thank you for the many phone calls supporting Jeff. This is the first time I had been to one of these events and I was appalled by the behavior of what are supposed to be adults.

 

After several phone calls received by us yesterday we now know more of what went on Saturday night throwing broken bottles and glass and emptying the contents of rubbish bags inside the marquee. How terrible this was is compounded by reports that a young child was in there too.

 

When we left on Saturday night yes it was raining, we thought that maybe the Marquee would be used, and to be honest that was ok the weather was simply awful, if we had been treated with respect earlier we would of gladly come over and said to use it but as it was we felt less than comfortable to do that. Incidentally when we left Jeff made a lap of the park to check and was not surprised to see two people in there almost immediately after we had left (you know who you are ) and in all fairness it was not a problem as the rain was appalling by then so Jeff left it be.

 

I know this forum is primarily meant for you blokes, but I feel that after telling your wife's and girlfriend of the events of the weekend they would be non to pleased as it is the Zed widows amongst us who have to bear the brunt of our men's passion for zeds after all we are the ones who have to put up with, “Oh no this has gone wrong with my Z” , sorry no to the holiday/new clothes you promised me? come on ladies how many times do we here that.

 

After talking to Steve on Sunday I felt sorry for him, all the time and effort he had put into organizing this event yes I totally agree I would have been ashamed to be part of the Z forum.

 

When Andrew Glen came in to talk to us and listened to that phone call, I mentioned that traders will be chased away by poor regulation and he agreed that implementing new guidelines was the way forward as even on the day to day help forum often hostility reigns when questions are asked or answered especially to new members

 

 

 

I don’t know if anyone will read this post, maybe if you do show it to your wife's /girlfriends.

 

That’s it now I’ve had my say, as I am sure that those of you who know me know I will say what I think in straight talk face to face where possible. Thank you if you have read this, also a big thank you to two very good friends who helped us through the weekend.

 

Maybe from this weekend it will put an end to this and is a positive way forward for the forum and you guys who in all reality just love you cars..nothing wrong with that.
