Has anyone removed their orignal plastic accelerator pedal?

If so how do you get the bloody thing off?? I've been trying with no luck and I can't get my big fooking head in the footwell enough to see what's going on.

What you want to remove the accelerator pedal for? It will make your car slower. Nearly as slow as an Auto.

Haha!! Good point.

I need to get it off so's I can fit my new pedal covers.

I've drilled the holes through the pedal, but can't get the nuts on the back of the screws cos the bar that holds the acc. pedal is in the way.

I fitted some pedals just the other day and I came across the same problem. While I could get the bottom nut on round the back no probs, the top one would foul on the actual bar as you said. I drilled the hole a little smaller than the first and even though the bolt isn't pointed like a self-tapper, it did manange to work a thread into the plastic and actually tighten up against itself, if you know what I mean, without the nut on the back. If you've already drilled the hole the same size as the bolt ........you're screwed. (unless you can get away with repositioning the pedal slightly)

Anyway........wasn't too pleased with the fit of my brake pedal, so I'm taking mine off anyway! I'll say the holes that are left in my acc pedal are erm.........a nelson mass exercise!
