Mornin' all!

I have scoured all forums but failed to find a solution (could possibly be because of a very late and boozy night ...) My Jap import autobox beeps when put in reverse. I thank God that it isn't audible outside of the car but inside you'd think you're driving a bigrig! Anyone know how to disengage this?

Also, how do I know whether my tranny has been fitted with a cooler? Anything in particular to look for ... my trans. tunnel gets scorching hot ... me thinks I ain't got no cooler. How much to buy/install and where can I get one?

Many thanks for your thoughts.

Cheers!

Danny

Dan the Man,

You lucky git! Getting your car back tomorrow...is it sorted then mate?

Yeah, my tranny tunnel used to get red hot aswell...not sure where the cooler is mounted, AndyP has got one on his. I'll get him to show me tomorrow at BILLING! You know, that JAE thing at BILLING TOMORROW! Sorry mate, aren't you going? biggrin.gif

Beeping in Rev. gear? Rip that out straight away, that wouldn't impress the chicks now would it?

Reminds me of a VW Westfalia Camper that me old man had years ago, bought a reversing alert unit from some geeZer at the working mens club! It played an Ice-Cream van quality rendition of the Godfather when backwards was selected...LMFAO! So embarrassing, and it wasn't quiet either.

NOT BIG AND DEFO NOT CLEVER!

Tim

;-)

Yeah, mine beeps in reverse too - drives me bloody beserk. Must try to find the little bugger sometime. Incidentally, mine used to beep when the ignigtion key was in and the door open, but since the carphone kit was fitted it stopped. Matey was very apologetic but I was quite pleased.

It's quite easy to see if you have an auto box cooler, it will be in front of and partially obscuring the main radiator. Usually about 10" by 4", I think.

Thanks Tim, Andy.

Yes, Polesworth have glued the bits back together (didn't have any bits left over - thank God) and are testing/adjusting various systems and sensors today.

I was aware of the show going on tomorrow and would have loved to join you guys in the procession but, as I'm off to the continent Sunday freaking early in the morning, decided that other tasks take priority. Defo going to try and get to the next get-together.

AndyP - a mate of mine told me that disconnecting the reversing beep will also disable all other warning beeps ... not sure if he has all his marbles ... so must be taken with a grain of NaCl.

Will post tomorrow how the car is doing (and hopefully get some pics up when I figure out how the F$*&^ to make my scanner output small files (currently a regular sized photograph scan takes up 3.22MB! Bollocks!

Cheers all!

Danny

PS I'l be meeting up with Eric (Lymonn) next week in Holland.

Maybe they have a law in Japan that says anything over 300bhp must be a truck and needs a beeper.

I don't mind mine - it reminds me i'm driving a monster!

At least it isn't one of those ridiculous talking ones... "This Z is reeeverrrsing!"

LOL

are you sure you havent got proximity sensors on the back bumper ?

do the beeps speed up when closing in on something ?

i saw one Z at billing this weekend with one of these

UK 92 TT White

Mongoose K&N AVCR

KYB Eibach

yeah, who's was that and is it any good, reverse parking is a nightmare on a Z!!

Craig - very sure it's not a proximity thing. Did speak to a Z32 expert here in Holland who seems to think that the beeps are produced by the same device as all the other warning beeps in the car. Therefore disabling the reversing beeps will stop all other warnings as well ... bummer. Will still try to get more info though.

So far the car is still behaving fine-ish - the hesitation problem is back (intermittent) and I managed to stall the autobox by pressing the gas deep and then braking (was sitting in traffic at the time). Can't believe how much can go wrong with this car - but I love it anyways!

Cheers guys!
