No there is not, but you may get a small amount blown through the turbos and PCV's.

Yes, you should use super unleaded, or Optimax on a Jap import running the standard ECU mappings.

thanks andy, when you take the balance pipe of you can see the oil in the bottom of both? ive changed the pcvs, do you think this is why i get white/blue smoke on start up in a morning? do you know what causes the oil in plenum prob??

any help appreciated mate

Jim.

Here's a good check to do;

Pull off one of your main boost hoses (any one, though turbo->IC is best) and run your finger around the inside. Does it come out black, or slimy and oily?

If it's slimy and oily, then chances are your compressor seals are leaking a bit on the turbo - not a huge deal, but, these things tend to get worse over time.

If it's dry or your finger just comes out dry and a bit black, then the turbo's (at least, the compressor side) is fine.

A bit of oil in the plenum is, as Andy says, normal - pretty much any car will have it, that has a breather system which breathes back into the plenum like ours does. It's just that being Z owners, we're paranoid about it :)

On my car there was a general film in there, but not enough to be forming puddles or anything like that, which I considered fine and perfectly within acceptable limits.

Smoke on startup - if it's steam, it's just condensation, though to be honest you don't usually see that at this time of year.

If it's blue or white 'smoke', then there is oil in the system somewhere. Blue would normally indicate oil being burnt- meaning oil is being fed into the combustion chamber, either via the breather system (not that likely at idle), compressor oil seals, or valve stem seals (inlet side).

White smoke usually means oil in the exhaust side of the system - exhaust valve stem seals, or turbo impellor oil seals wearing. (Basically blue smoke = burning oil, white smoke = superheated oil)

Not very conclusive, I know.. sorry :)
