Hi Matt,

Sorry to hear all this, have you tried contacting the seller? I presume you have, if so what was the response like. Did you have the car checked out at the time?

If you need any help PM me, I'm only up the road.

Hi Roy havent spoken to him yet am going to try though carnt really go and see him lives couple off hundred miles away so pissed of. Travlled all that way for all this shit to happen

Check my sig - HINT HINT ;)

Jiz300 where arrrrreeeee yoooouuuuuu?

So you have to spend £2K on a zed.

This is to be expected.

I just spent £230 on 6 quarts of transmission fluid and 10 quarts of 10/40 fully synth.

And when I have the turbos done I wont see much change from £3K.

Supercars are bloody expensive mate :/

Zeds are very good at hiding serious problems which maybe the owner did not know about, hell I dont know... sorry to hear about your problems but posting things like this are going to lead to a witch-hunt - they always do.

Good luck and I hope you get it resolved.

welcome to zed ownership

that is not really a clever thing to say scoops i woulndnt wish any off us to have what has happend to me today

because now i have to borrow the money to get it fixed and then i have to sell the car which is going to be in perfect working order

so i can pay back the money

ive been in the same boat, people on here as a general will put people under no illusions that at the end of the day you are buying a car that was described as "japans first supercar" for a fraction of its original cost. The old girl is getting on a bit, youd be made up if your telly lasted thirteen years, let alone something that contains an explosion constantly and travels at 140mph plus, and sits in the rain, and get bumped over potholes and generally kicked around.

lets see your telly do that!!

things get old and then they die.. it even happens to us!!! theres no escaping it, your car will break..... if you bouaght one of these and expected it not to break then i'm sorry its not the car for you, the same goes for any car of this age from fiesta to ferrari.

As for it being "mint" when you bought it, it may well have been, how could the previous owner know it was going to break, i'm prety sure he wouldnt have. Electrical stuff either works or it dont, simple

I feel sorry for you my friend but at the end of the day we are all driving around in ageing used vehicles, and we all know the risks

You should have sent me an email ;) I could have done it cheaper than that...for RS10/60 and tafx 75/90 transmission fluid Postage may have cost a little bit tho ;)

Twas Royal Purple old boy, though thanks for the offer :)

Dont want to dishearten you, but like scoops said it is a 13 cyear old car, and most will have had a pretty hard life....Still look on the bright side, its only 2 grand - since my £8k engine build & turbos I've had to spend close on 7 grand just fixing stupid f*cking problems - new loom, fuel pumps (2 of), gearbox, heater matrix etc etc.

I have 2 bank loans now, an almost maxxed out credit card and I also have had to borrow money off family...

What it comes down to IMHO is that if you really want a Z then you'll find a way to keep it, but if you want a sportscar with no problems then get something newer & less powerful that can be had for the same sort of price, i.e. Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec, Toyota Celica GT, Nissan S14 200sx. With the first 2 theres no turbos so thats one less thing to worry about....

Hi Mate,

Interested in the RS10/60, where are you located ?

Weel it's nice to see the spirit of the Z community is alive and kicking here, NOT!!!!

I'm surprised at some of the well established members on here, ur sympathy is almost non-existant. Some of us who own Z's, well when i get mine i will, run our cars on , what would seem to some, a tight budget! We do this because we love the cars, not because we've got loads of money to spend on mods and body kits, not that there is anything wrong in that. This love affair is the point of owning a Z.

There seems to be an attitude of

'well I've got loads of money, and you haven't, so you shouldn't be running one!'

Come on guys, we all love the Z, so, and you all must have been in this situation at some time, lets stop this attitude. After all, if your expensive Z you've just brought just went bang, you'd be somewhat pi****d off as well, and you'd be posting on here how YOU feel. Then you wouldn't like negative comments like those would you??

And before you say it, yes I know I don't own a Z just yet, but I will soon, so you can't say it isn't any of my business.

Best regards mate, and I hope it resolves itself.

DAVE

Completely agree with Dave, you guys shock me....poor fella seems to have been bumped by some pr1ck off the forum and all u guys are saying 'it's a 13yr old car....what do u expect'....rah rah blah blah.... well *****c*s to that!

if it was genuinely looked after it would NOT have happened!

jaz

p.s. this also refers to the post by sunbeds in the help & advice forum...

Don't misunderstand, it's not about sympathy, it's reality - you'll probably find that most people here have spent a pile of cash on repairs of some sort after they bought the car. In may case it was also the autobox, and that was on a 7 year old car that had only covered 30,000m and had recently cost me £15k to buy.

Yeah, ok! I know that these cars are expensive to run and maintain, as said they are, after-all, exotic super cars. And yes a lot of you spend time, love and a lot of money on them, and well worth it it is too. :)

Well let me expand on my point of view;

Lets say, for arguments sake, this guy has spent £5000 on this car, and now he may have a bill for, say, £2000, thats 40% of the cost of the car. Total £7000.

Lets say one of you more well off guys has paid £8000 for your car, 40 % 0f that would be £3200, total £11200.

Now dont tell me you wouldnt be moaning about that!! Bit of a differance, wouldnt you agree.

What I'm trying to say here is, to you, more well off guys, it isnt much money, but to the little guy on a tight budget, it's quite a bit. Now do you see where I'm coming from?

I wasn't trying to have a go at you, just surprised, that you seem to forget where your Z owning days started! We've all had cars that were sheds, and mine still is :D , but we aspire to better things in life. This guy has brought, what I persume is, his first Z, and now has had a bad experiance, and that is un-fortunate and I do hope that he can resolve it without having to sell. Now he may think that he wont come back on here in the future, due to the reaction he received!!

There are some very knowledgeable, helpful and cleaver Z owners on this forum, and then there are the P*** takers, snobs and ars***ls whom just bring the community down:mad: take your pick which one you fit into.

DAVE

See how long this post stays on here, without being edited, abused or miss-quoted!!:p

Just want to make clear that I'm probably one of the least well paid members here, on a Princely 12k a year:rolleyes: , but I still manage to juggle a mortgage, a life and the massive debt I've run up to fund my obsession....Like I said before (or tried to, I probably made a *****cks of it...;) ) if your going to own a Z then you need to be obsessed about it, you need to make sacrifices - Lord knows I have:rolleyes: ;)

Dont worry about it mate, just trying to put it in perspective is all...:)

i too am far from well off, if I was i wouldnt have bought a zed i'd have got a supra, we know its a shitter when the car bites you in the arse and we do have sympathy, perhaps it came out wrong, but your original pose implied to me anyway that you were expecting a trouble free car.. i was just pointing a few things out..i'm now off to pick which group i fall into from your previous post

how much did you pay for the car. IMHO if you paid less than say 6K for it i would expect some bills. i paid £8100 for mine and had to shell out over £5k in two years for maintainence costs alone. but then i knew it would be expensive. Auto boxes are weak as they do not like motorway miles unless you replace that oil cooler, if it is a jap one anyway, my brothers auto box went in 3 weeks, but was covered by warrenty as he bought it from an import dealer.

it aint a fiesta its a 13year old £35-£40k car and two months without a hitch aint bad.

the only thing that would piss me is finding rad weld in radiator.

it dont really help your situation but i can see where you are coming from. just vent off your steam to the seller.

I had to sell my wheels to get some bits and pieces I wanted for mine.........but hopefully get some more again at a more lucrative time. But hey, if someone had to have them.........I'm glad it was Stu.

I would say most of us on here run their Z's on a budget .........well, try to!

I very rarely post these days but feel compelled.

1) Cars go wrong. That's life.

2) Buying a car privately is risky. That's life too.

3) Slagging someone off when you haven't even spoken to them is going to lead to people judging you slightly unfair.

4) Was the purpose of the original post to prompt sympathy ? OK, I'm sorry to hear it. It's sad to have that disappointment. Believe me I've been there. But I never started slagging people off. I accepted it and got on with life.

It was kinda what I was saying too Dave, though not half as succinctly ;)

Good to see you still come by from time to time mate, I only come here myself to talk crap and be misunderstood, which I am very good at:)

We must have a pint sometime mate, the picture of Senna is hanging proud.

Peace,

Glen
