I have removed everything to enable the removal of the gearbox to replace me clutch, but does anyone know how the hell you get on the top two bellhousing bolts as I can't even see them let alone undo them ?

All help greatly appreciated !

Undo all the bolts on one side of the rear mount and loosen the 3 on the other side to let the back rotate downwards slightly giving you more room. Then if you got some long extensions for your socket (i used 2x ~10inch extensions) and some quite twisty arms you gotta just get in there! Trust me it is possible ;)

If you still cant get in there it might be possible to undo all the rear mount (make sure u have a jack there to hold it in that case!!) and rotate it for even more room but you want to be really carefull wich the engine rotating in that tight engine bay.

If you're really stuck you're only bout 50mins away from me and im happy to cruise but im sure they'll be some people closer.

I used two extensions but also had one of those knuckle joints between the extension & the bit if that makes sense. You have to guide the bit onto the bolt with one hand whilst holding the extensions with the other. Once this is done, just slap the ratchet handle onto the extension & undo.

I managed to get all the bolts out without undoing any mounts or removing anything (apart from exhaust of course) using this method. ;)

Best of luck,

Shaun

Yeah, lower the gearbox mountings slightly and use 3 six inch extensions with a swivel adapter on the end to get to the top 2 bolts.

I couldn't get the socket onto one of them and had to get someone else to guide it at the back of the engine onto the bolt.

I thought I just put a spanner on to them and played for a while, but it was along time ago now. Maybe I'll do it again soon!

Thanks guys for all the help ! Very True Devil I found them with my hand at the top and u can just put a 14mm spanner on them and turn them easy enough, if they were very tight I might have had more problems with leverage but they came undone with my mighty strength !

Cheers again fellas and thanks for the offer of coming down Robtor !
