really really appreciate some help - location of fuses for rear lights??

my 'mate' offered to fit a foglight (for a price) so that my import 300zx tt could be mot'd tomorrow. mot is booked....

fitted the foglight yesterday. i tested the light after he went and not only did the foglight not work, my rear lights (passenger side)are not working either too now (except for brake light).

yes, he is a cowboy, my fault for trying to get things on the cheap.

today - after waiting for him all day to turn up and him ignoring my calls, he's turned up an hour ago after me tracking him down in person, it's now getting dark, and the light/foglight are still not working.

He thinks it's a fuse somewhere in a fuseboard he cant find...

Could anyone shed anylight on where there might be a hard-to-find fuseboard on the 300 relating to lights?

ps he's a fvcking muppet!

Could it be the fusebox in the driver's side footwell? I had trouble finding that one when I had a similar muppet try to fit a stereo :S Look in the footwell, on the right hand side, and there should be a removable bit of panel, behind which are the fuses... they can be a bit fiddly to get to :(

This is assuming you've checked the two obvious fuseboxes under the bonnet, of course :P

if it's only one side and you have swapped the bulb to test it then it's not the fuse.

Your so called mate has blown your stop and tail sensor. These are not easy to come by and cost a fiar bit from Nissan.

Do the following checks:

1) Make sure it's only one tail light that's not working. If it's both then, it may be the fuse, which is located in the drivers foot well to the right of the accelerator pedal. The fuse will be a 10amp on the top row 2nd from the left.

2) If it is only 1 light that's not working, check the bulb in the other light to see if that is ok.

3) if the bulb is ok, then it's either your stop and tail lap sensor that your mate has blown up, or he has not connected the wires properly.

Stop and tail lamp sensor is a little black box on the left side of the boot (under the mouldings) near where the aerial motor is.

thanks for the prompt reply lads...

i've printed this thread out (with some edits :D)) and given it to him to read outside......although my hopes of mot'ing tomorrow are are fading fast :(

its gutting to see half of the interior ripped out just because he's boloxed up fitting a foglight :(!

although tonight has revealed the car is chipped :D, the ecu is from 'motor racing developments' or atleast it has that written on it!

fyi the car didnt make it to the mot...

he managed to get the rear lights working again and then decided to try and wire the foglight from the cigarette lighter...

which then blew the interior light and ciggie lighter (fuses i presume)! and still no rear foglight.

So for my next question, which fuses are the ciggie and interior light?

I'll replace them myself and go to a garage for the foglight to be fitted...i've learnt my lesson big time.
