The other week I spent 2 late nights painting my f/callipers black.

I'm pleased with the results.

But just an idea if anyone is considering doing it.

There has been lots of ideas what to do with the Nissan logo on them.

Well what I did was painted around the logo, filling in part in between the letters etc. then when the paint had hardened, the next day I masked aroung the logo and sanded off the raised logo carefully. It came out very well that way and looks a lot better than trying to highlight the letters with white calliper paint or something.

But don't ask for a pic, because I've put on the wheels and can't be bothered taking it off again.

Anyway I hope to be at billing so they can be seen there.

I did more or less the same but painted right over the letters, and then sanded them down. Using a sanding block and being careful the letters will come up nice and crisp.

The caliper in the photo looks a bit grubby but I had just changed over the discs and new brake pipe so my dirty prints are all over it.

I used black 'hammerite' paint on mine, and once dried I filed the 'Nissan' name back to silver (very carefully) then put a clear coating on top of that to stop it fading.

Easy job just takes time.

Matty.

I used Savage Brake Caliper Paint, made by Trillogy Ltd. This stuff is a two part epoxy paint and dries to a glass like finish and is very tough. Got the kit from a local motor store for about £20 which includes caliper cleaner, paint and hardener for 4 calipers. You do need to follow the instructions carefully but I think the results and cost are well worth it.

I just used gold hammerite on mine, straight over the letters. Thought it might flake or bubble but it looks good.

I actually went out and bought some Polyfilla, reshaped the calipers, then painted them black with humbrol :D I thought the results were ok, but then I wrote BREMBO on them and now they look astounding - they make the discs look much bigger and also seem to stop the car far better. See my work below:

Ah, andy, sounds like you've cracked it!

I was wondering how I could afford a Skyline break upgrade!

(I don't suppose you kept a mold for the polyfilla did ya?)

and do they work as well as rea l Brembos too?????

:D

James, what colour and paint did you use, by far the best I've seen.

PS what discs are those

Cheers, I used Halfords Brake Caliper Paint RED, a 250ml tin. But I would really recommend using an aerosol cos its pretty tricky to paint on with a brush (which is what I did) as its so thick, as you pull the brush away-strands of red paint come away too. But if you are careful and take your time its ok. Just make sure you really clean up the caliper first, thats my tip of the day!

The discs are Brembo's 10 groove and dimpled from 3G Brakes.

Thanks for that James, just ordered some dics from 3G but not sure if there the same as yours (20-GR) think their the grooved ones.

Yours will be like mine but with no dimples and twice as many grooves! ie 20-GR(oove) I liked the look of the dimples.......makes a funny noise when you brake though! I thought something was stuck in my wheels at first!!! :D

Mine make a funny noise now, like a spring being stretched but I believe its the metal plate that sits between the pad and caliper. Bloody annoying though so new pads should hopefully rectify this, front ones do look a bit low.

PS posted a message on the Courtesy order thread re caliper kit

Ah-that'll be caliper creak that you have and new pads will rectify this.......until they're low again!

My noise is the pads skimming over the dimples.
