:mad::mad:

1. I dropped the radiator air outlet screw down the gap to the left of the radiator  Can see it but can't reach it and it's all hard pipes down there . I'll have to see if I can find one of those long wiry grappling tools tomorrow, or source another screw from Nissan (very doubtful - I'm sure it's an "Import Screw" or something equally as dumb and ridiculous!)

2. I spent a good half hour fannying around taking apart the dash, swapping the duff autobox dash bulb with a good one only to put it all together and there's 2 rows of bulbs - WTF?? What do the top row do, above the HICAS one? I thought I'd moved the HICAS bulb one place to the left, but when I put it all together the damn thing still came on the same  Think I've moved one above that to the left - are there 2 rows of three?

Thoroughly pissed off now cos it's dark, I'm no closer to diagnosing the autobox fault (prob the TPS) and my car is now undrivable as its got no little radiator screw.

Thanks for listening  ;)

I did the exact same thing not long after I got mine..

Take the indicator out (one phillips screw) and look up through the hole - see if it's sat on top of the washer bottle like mine was - or failing that, knock it down the hole around the washer bottle and take it out through the indicator hole ;)

i bought one from nissan 2 pound something just had to wait a day mines an import.

Cool - I'll try Nissan tomorrow and see if they can get me one :) . If not I'll try the indicator method - lol I just read you post Aaron from when you did it...

Cheers

Pete,

Halfords do a Magnetic Retrieval Tool - basically a thin telescoping rod - for only a handful of quid. Should be just right for what you need?

  • Author

Raz - thats the sort of thing I need - obviously not magnetic tho ;)

Me and John Dixon used his when a new PCV valve jumped down a big hole in the engine bay the other day. Like a syringe on one end, and when you depress the syringe three metal prongs come out of the other and grab the lost piece.

Dear o dear, time to pull ya hair out:D ,if ya can see rad out let screw,do what i did for simalur other day,2 to 3ft garden stick/bamboo/thin pole, chewing gum on end press on to object:D sorted:D Hope you get sorted for sunday:eek: ;)

Pete,

Try Mike Feeney at MJP Auto 01277 374201 and the net at http://www.mjp.com. Top bloke, his prices are cheap and he'll mail it out to ya!

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

£4.99 from Halfords as Raz states. Every Z owner should not be without one of these. Saves so much tme and hassle. And the magnets are quite strong as well. I have retrieved many a 10mm spanner from the depth's of my engine bay along with a fair few nuts, bolts and screws that I never knew I had lost.

All these excuses just cos my cars running:rolleyes: . Its ok to be scared little shrimp.....;)

I can see what you thinking : "Now I have a slight chance of winning" ;)

Thanks boys - hopefully the chuddy ended cane (CEC) might work, off to homebase at lunch ;) But I will look out for a grabber.
