Hello,

I am looking for an unmolested Z32 TT, auto, UK car, nice colour, leather and full electrics. I don't want massive mileage but more important is a car that will run for 12-24months without any problems.

How much can I expect to pay? Not forum driver inflated prices (I know what it's like, everyone here and on any drivers forum will think their cars are worth more than they are, the same goes for me :) ) but prices I can expect to pay for a tidy example from a trader forecourt or possibly an enthusiast.

I want a Z32 but I don't want it off the road for a year because I can't afford new turbos or something has gone hideously wrong :)

Thanks for your time

Russ - Zclub

Hi,

http://www.zclub.net if your interested in 240s :D I wouldn't bother importing though as corrosion is gonna be a problem on any Z up till the Z31 I think when they finally started to use virgin steel.

This importing yourself business has been quite interesting and I've been very tempted before. I tried to get some info from the Banzai forums but no one was much help. Obviously I don't want a lemon and I wouldn't know who to trust but I was told for £5k one of the importers would do me a nice SWB Manual with 50k on the clock and 6 months tax yada yada. So I guess for less I could get the same car myself?

I would love to know of any links to Jap auction sites you have please that are quite noob friendly. I think I'd better do some forum searching on the differences between UK and Jap spec.

Thanks v much

This can't be right though, a car over there for just a bag of sand? I realise its not cheap to get it here but that still makes it half price?

Russ,

I've imported 3 300ZX's from Japan. 2 daily drivers and an occasional driver. Might seem a bit odd, but i try not to use garages, and if i'm gonna' lie under a car for a few hours I'd rather it was a car I liked. Not had any major/unfixable problems with any of them worst was gearbox failure. £400 for the box, weeks work (evenings). Despite first impressions the cars not that complicated, it's not a space shuttle, it's a Nissan with Nissan level quality and Nissan level engineering.

Yep, easy Russ isn't it.

Would give you the name of the importer the I use but since I'm feeling a bit unpopular here I won't, some of the links you have will do the job. 89-91 300ZX about £750 at auction + shipping+taxes+ the very complicated, sophisticated not possible without specialist knowledge U.K. conversion(nice money if you can get it), 2.5K.

Russ

If you are near Southampton, go and check out their Jap import auctions. Contrary to what Silverzed ( I think it's her) says they are not all bad.

there are 2 of them and run about once a fortnight. They usually sell 2or 3 each time, but best to check first, save a wasted journey. I saw about 10 go through before I bought mine, mainly because I wanted a manual. I bought mine last November unregistered, and because of the situation at the time stored it for 5 months.

It is now on the road, It passed it's mot with only a little welding to an exhaust pipe. She runs beautifully, engine smooth as cream, turbos boost as they should, no oil or hicas leaks. The car came with nearly new tyres, the battery has never let me down even when not started for a month. All the electrics work including the climate control. There are a few blemishes on the body work, the paintwork is a bit bleached on the plastic bits. I think it must have been in a hot part of Japan. I t even came with a new oil change, all for under 3 grand.

I would be the first to admit perhaps I have been lucky in many ways, but the opportunities are there, But I am a great believer if it looks and sounds right then it probably is. I'm afraid everything is a gamble, especially with 12 year old cars.

Hi Martin,

Cheers for the heads up but I gotta shift my car first :(

Been looking at http://www.onaa.or.jp/eng/ and there are some sexual cars there, but the whole importing thing worries me. Gonna see if someone in the Z Club can help.

Cheers
