anyone tried to connect their playstation to their broadband using a bt modem? I've got a bt modem but the ethernet lead that comes with the playstation network pack wont connect up with it? anyone else had this problem? it seems i need a usb to ethernet connector, any ideas where to get one from?

for info its a bt voyager 100 modem

But dont have it chipped, even a switchable chip, and then go online, otherwise microsoft will remotley **** your xbox up the arse so it wont work again :)

You're OK if you switch the chip off before using Live.

They dont break your Xbox, just refuse you access, but this has not been confirmed. As others said, you turn it off before you play. Not very handy if you want to play a copied game over the internet though.

However, it is said that a chip has been made which Microsoft cant detect any difference.

:D OK, playa hataz!... Anyway, this PS2 problem sounds a bit like an Xbox problem I heard about - something about having to route your XB through a PC to connect properly to some BB providers. I should really have stayed the f*ck out of this conversation because I h'aint got a chipped XB, a PS2 or broadband.

Some internet providers restrict the internet use to MAC address on Network Cards. All you have to do is find the MAC address of the Network Card in the Xbox and add it to the list of MAC addresses you will be using for your connection.

OK, cool. Cheers for that - I'll keep it in mind for when (/if) I ever do it. But I'm gonna shut up now, cos it's a PS2 thread, right?
