Hi guy's

I was driving the other night - no great speed (70 on an a-road with the cruise on) and noticed the oil pressure was down near zero. So I went through a village and thought I'll give her some to see if it goes up so I did and it didn't even reach the first mark! So I stopped at a garage and bouhght some oil and topped up (took about 3/4 of a litre) drove up the dual carriageway and still the same. After about 5 miles the guage shot up to about 60. Then on the way home it was down again.

Now do I have a major problem or is the gauge just a bag of s***e!?

well the gauges are known for being crap, which doesn't help you if you do have a problem.

Vijay is right there - the guages are pants.. Well, sender, in this case..

Mine tends to do what yours does Ivan - wanders up and down as it fancies (with a brand new oil pump, so I know that's good).. I ought to get around to putting the aftermarket OP guage in, really..

Yes, its the sender that gets clogged and then gives a false reading. Will an aftermarket gauge run off a different sender then?

I went for oil temp in mine.

You should get an oil presure sender with the gauge. 90% of the time you do but some I have seen sell the sender separately .

Cool. Thought the guages were pants anyway. Just got a little concerned tho'. As you do with these cars. It still went like f**k anyway so it couldn't have been that much of a problem.

Something interesting i've noticed about mine;- Driving, say doin 3000-4000rpm i get a low reading, below the 1st mark, if i then lift off the throttle it will climb quite alot.

other times it acts as i would imagine it should.
