Hello there folks,

Been doing some research into possible replacing the turbos on my car.

Some specialists say that they can repair my turbos (seals and bearings) for approx. £150 + VAT

The other option is to get full exchange units at approx. £475 - £500 each.

I've phoned a number of people including Silvia Engineering, Turbo Technics and Universal turbos. Does anyone have experience of using exchange turbos from any of these companies? There is a huge amount of labour associated with changing the turbos so I don't want to go to all the expense of getting sub standard parts and then having to do the whole job over again !

Any advice / comments welcome.

All the best.

Martin.

I have had dealings with turboactive.com tel. 01429-294004

I found them to be very honest and helpful.

You can send and receive the turbos very cheeply.

I think they are based in Hartleepool.

Cant remember the guys name but give them a ring and they

will give you all the options.

Just two thoughts:

Firstly, I guess neither of those prices include fitting the buggers which AIUI is an engine-out job.

Secondly, if you replace them, you could always take the opportunity to replace them with an uprated version. I guess there's no point unless you're already on stage III or so though...

Also try Turbo Developments (020 8560 3927). Very helpful, knowledgeable and quick turnaround. They can provide uprated Garrett GT25 turbos for much the same price as the standard units. Watch the insurance though!
