Hello there folks,

My car is one of the very first TT (manual).

These cars have the suspect valves and valve springs. Does anyone else have an early car and if so has anyone experienced any problems with the head, valves or valve springs.

I've no way of knowing if the springs have been upgraded as the car is a jap import.

The engine runds fine. It revs clealy and doesn't sound tappety to my ears. Is there a danger of the engine going bang because of the valve problems with these early models?

Cheers.

Martin.

There are a few 1989 Zs hear and I cant remember any one having problems like that.

89 tt auto import, 80k on clock runs and sounds sweet, usual niggles such as goose honk, gurlges from aiv's, but engine and gearbox wise i cant fault it?

Hi. I have a March 1989 ZX32 TT auto, import. It is on a F plate. No Mods. The only problems I have had with mine is the O2 sensor which was replaced and a Cowboy garage put the wrong spark plugs in which they replaced within 24 hours. It runs wonderfully and Ii have had no problems with it since i day one. I use it very day. So, no probs anywhere.

yes your right some early 300 did have this problem up to 1992 but you my find that most imports have been sorted in Japan.

Anyway mine seems to be ok. 1989 TT manual import:D

Realistically that was 14 years ago, if it ain't broke then don't worry about it. Most Fords etc of the same age are already in their graves !
