I was looking to buy a set of VTR alloy wheels for my daughters Citroen Saxo. They are about £100 a set on Ebay.

Being a good guy, I decided to check with Direct Line to see if it would make any difference to the policy.

They quoted an additional premium of 20%, extra £100 excess and as the car would be modified my daughter could not drive it until she is 25.

They consider alloys, s/s exhausts, spoilers etc turn the car into a modified one.

This is also the case with a Z. Even if you replace the exhaust with a stainless one, this is a mod and you could have a shock if you tell your insurers.

So take care.

EVERYTHING you change on the car from standard is a modification.

Stands to reason.

Some insurance companies won't worry too much about wheels and spoilers, but others are a stickler for them.

Im with the insureshop

Rob there said my exhaust is fine and so would any minor bodywork alterations, its not until power is added that they start to reasess the situation and your policy.

Each company is different though.

Mines completely stock officer so no problemo there :D

Duffer you liar! Unless you have bought a new Z?

Theres no way that Gatling gun in the left hand intercooler pod is stock.
