Trusted friends can you help shed some views on the following idea.

I am having trouble selling the Lexus Soarer, its rare because of the manual box, plus all the kit + wheels. However only one person has been to see the car, but at events and car parks it always has interest, but no buyers.

I am thinking of raffling the car off, at a price of £50 per ticket with a total number of 150 tickets. Would this interest fellow car enthusiasts???

Your views appreciated.

Leigh.

no, not for 50 quid a ticket. 149 people would be throwing 50 quid down the drain, not exactly pocket change is it...

I would say that a good place to sell the car would be at a large Jap show eg Billing,Lots of Jap enthusiasts in one place, and can all veiw the car in the flesh;)

Try selling it for less money or on the other hand don't sell it if you are unwilling to sell it for less than what you think it is worth.

Good luck

Van

Why not set up a draw at Billing so people have the choice to see it in the flesh ect and thats a far better draw card.

maby £25 a ticket people might go for it.

didn't someone try that last year but didn't sell enough tickets?

Waz you could raffle yours, 100 tickets at £5 each. :)

wot if u didn't sell many tickets ?

maybe u have been asking too much for it - how old is it etc. ? OFten ppl ask too much for modded cars - noone will pay huge sums for a modded car even if it cost the owner a fortune to mod.

I have been asking £8500, but have dropped the price to £7500, which is what the car owes me. I have placed pictures on many forums including this one.

Some people saw the car at the Grasshopper Inn meet just recently.

How old is it ?

I can't see why you can't sell it, it looks good and it go's good to (well is faster than my stock Zed anyway :( )

Mike

1991.

That's a lot to ask for a 12 yr old car. Like I said, ppl won't pay much for your mods.

I'm sure it's a nice car though, Lexus are well made by all accounts.

How many miles has it done. Although I would dearly love a new Zed I could be tempted by something else of an intesting nature

Hi Posidrive,

Its done 80,000 miles, and as a pre caution the cambelt has been changed. Its also had two new tyres, a full service and a new battery.

Those that have seen the car will justify the conditon.

No offence, but its way tooo expensive, period. What it owes you is of no importance, and the proof is that you cant sell it. Sorry, sometimes the truth hurts, or at least my opinion...

Mark,

I suggest you try and find another Manual Soarer to justify your claims of way too expensive. I think you would be hard pushed to find one, and theres condition, etc to take into account. Your not buying a Ford Escort, so its not easy to value such a car.

£7500 is what it owes, thats imported direct from Japan, and registered.

i think the point hes making is, its a Soarer, whichever way you look at it there is a reason they arnt a plenty made, perhaps because they wernt very good. (no offens elol) but the car was never hugly popular, and that becomes a hassle for you as not enough people know about them and guys like mycraft claim to drive them lmao

I have owned 3 Soarers, all V8 autos. And yes I know they are rare, (Manuals) but £7500.00??? get real, I import the odd thing from Japan and have seen them for a lot less. And I bet there are more than 3 over here. I used to belong to the Soarer forum until it closed.

Anyway, I am not trying to be personal, if your car was worth it to enough people it would belong to someone else by now.

I actually think they might be better than a Z, quality wise, but it ends there. And I think they saw you coming, just my opinion.

No offence. :)

is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?

If it's an NA then it's a good candidate for LPG convesrion. Geezer at work here has one (although an auto) and he reckons it's the equiv of about 40mpg in running costs.

1994 (June) Soarer 4.0 GT-L. Dark Blue Metallic. Facelift example.

93,652km (58,205 Miles - after recalibration of odometer). V8 4 Litre 280 bhp + Lexus' legendary 4 litre V8 on which you could balance a 50 Pence piece at idle (So the UK advert said of same engine in LS400's).

Equipment is complete: Full light blue leather, Electric glass sunroof, Wind Deflectors, SRS, Wood Trim, Cruise Control, Electric seats with memory settings & heating, deep pile carpet & OEM fitted mats, Rear Wiper, ABS, Switchable Traction Control, PAS, Climate controlled A/C with display on screen, High quality integrated hifi with CD Changer in the boot, TEMS adjustable suspension both for height and firmness. A set of 17" 'Silver Arrow' split rim alloys are fitted with Yokohama sports tyres (Near new) of size 255/40/ZR 17 rear & 235/40/ZR17 front. Original alloys and tyres are also included with this car free of charge. Updated lights are fitted and include driving lights integrated into the front bumper.

A TV is also included in the repertoire of goodies, though it won't work in the UK without special modification. Typically this costs approx. 400 GBP to have done professionally by a specialist.

The car is of auction grade 4. Interior is in excellent original condition. There is a little wear to the driver's seat (Pic available), though this can be reconolysed very easily & inexpensively.

There are some small scratches to the rear bumper. the Driver's side - rear wheel arch has been repainted at some stage and paint match is poor. There are some minor key scratches to the passenger side too (Pictures available). Finally, on the bonnet there are some stone chips. Condition is overall excellent. The paint faults altough mentioned are to be repaired to original levels of finish & quality as part of preparation in UK. These are mentioned only for the purpose of giving an accurate current description.

This is a unique Soarer, not one we are likely to find again easily in ths spec - It's the first we've bought like it in the last 18 months.

£9,375 OTR including full SVA conversions, conversion of electronic Speedo & odometer, de-restriction, SVA test, Odometer recalibration to miles, Paintwork as described, MOT, 6 month's tax and a full valet before collection. Contact us to receive full pictures and details. A deposit of £1,000 secures this car.

Seems to be an auto rather than a manual, judging by the interior picture though ....
