Wiring Subwoofer and Amplifier

I bought one of those 'tube' type subwoofers with built in amp.

When I wire it to the wire that goes from the back of the radio to the power aerial, I get a lot of crackling and intermittant sound breakup. Then I wire it to the battery wire, its ok, but I have to use an on-off switch, which is a pain.

 

Anyone got any suggestions ?

    Make sure your power line runs down the other side of your car (other side to the speaker wires that is).
