Anyone got on pictures of a Jap instrument cluster and the side controls (aircon, etc). Thinking about a Jap inport to replace the rapidly declining UK Zed and need to consider options for this.

 

Excuse my ignorance, but when a speedo conversion is donr do you jet get mph reading on a kpm guage or do you get a new guage as well?

 

If no fog light switch on the side controls, whould it be possible to replace the controls with a UK set. I don't really want a naff fog light switch.

you will have a fog light switch as standard on the jap cars, but this will operator the font fogs. You could always just wire the rear inner brake lights via a relay into this switch and drill a little hole so that the bulb shines through or fit an LEd as you need a visual indicator with rear fogs.

said it before but, for the SVA, if it needs it you need aproper fog light in the approved location. Brake lights rewired will not do.

 

As for speedo conversions, best optio is to fit a UK clock, but then you will still be limited to 125mph and will need an upgraded ECU chip to get the limit off. But I have heard that some speedo conversions, (the clever bit) can upset the Hicas, Something about the car thinking its doing less/more than it really is.

 

Fog light switches dont need to be naff. If you fit a naff switch in a naff place thats your silly fault. Take care and buy a nice switch and fit it carefully and its OK.

The car won't need an SVA unless it's more than 10 years old.

True, but as the original thread said something about his old Z getting a bit past it I guesed he would only get something youngish, otherwise he might be moving sideways as it were.
