Starter motor probably!!

Ring gear possibly!!

I've got the same problem. Mines being looked at tomorrow or the next day so will let you know how I go!!!!!

Starter motor. Ring gear would do this all the time not intermittent. I have a spare I need to get fixed - if I get it done quickly would you like to borrow it to test?

CheerZ,

Andy

Forgive me for doubting the mighty knowledge of the duff, but sureley if a tooth had broke off the ring gear then that would cause an intermitent squeal cos it would only do it when the starter ring stops in that perticular place.

My dads rover had to have a new starter ring, cos it ate a couple of teeth but it only did the noise every now and then.

Andy,

Thanks for the offer, I think I will wait and see if it gets any worse.

Anyone know what a reconditioned starter costs ?
