Hey all,

 

As you are aware by now, I own a lovely '90 ZXTT 2+2, imported from Japan (God I hope it wasn't stolen ...) I've only had it a month or so and am slowly starting to make changes to the beast. At the moment I can hear a really annoying electronic "ding dong" noise coming from somewhere on the transmission tunnel. It starts at exactly 62 mph and fortunately doesn't get louder as speed increases. It is however annoying the sh*t out of me. Incidentally, the cruise control cuts out at speeds above 62 mph. I would like to get the propper speedo face, chip and speed delimeter in the near future and wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this horrible noise. And, when installed, will the speed delimeter get rid of that noise? I intend to get a kit from FarEast Imports (about £85) and do the conversion myself. I am assuming it isn't a terribly difficult job to do.

Any comments are much appreciated.

Thanks! I shall stop the bells ringing as soon as I get my car back from the garage! Excellent source of information. As for the cruise control ... I'm not too crafty with a soldering iron so perhaps this is best left to someone who is ... any takers around the B'ham area?

Danny, Danny your going abot this the wrong way.

Firstly as previous said the noise is a warning for max speed limit in Japan and the speddo is linked to it.

For approx £100 from breakers you can fit a direct replacement UK spec dash in abot half an hour.this is correctly calibrated has no ding noise and the oil and turbo gauges are in PSI, you will still need an ecu delimiter to release the top speed limit. The ecu to the cruise control is dead easy to convert just need a soldering iron and half an hour did mine from the details on Ausi site works up to abot 110mph now.
