Height of roadsters

went past a VX220 yesterday and they are bloody LOW !!:eek:

 

why are they (& other roadsters) so low compared to most other sports cars ? Obviously, the lower the better.

    Did you see Clarkson try to get in one when he was reviewing it? He had to take the roof off to get in.

     

    The lower a car is to the ground the less air under neath and the better it handles, the lower the height the less wind resistance there will be.

    Compromise...scale of original design...and as you said, driver comfort / luggage space. Your average vx220 / elise (et al) doesnt want *much* comfort/luggage, they buy it for the weekend toy. Of course there are people who do use them as daily cars, they are happy too...most other people scale up to a car made in a similar vein but on a larger scale, To have say a zx scaled down to the size of an elise would look a bit wierd...the original designer will have rough dimensions in his head and design the car around them. If im making any sense?!?.

    They are what I assume the reasons to be.

    The one with the dick dastardly extendable suspension is quite high, otherwise the majority of the modern ones have quite low rooflines. The 360 only being 30ish mm lower than a zx, wheras the enzo is a good 100mm lower.

    All reasonably easy to find from varius sources on the web ;)
