Anyone know where I can get the two inlet manifold gaskets from by the weekend if possible cheaper than Nissan dealer as they want £60 each plus the VAT. I did say I wanted the gaskets and not the whole manifold but the price was still the same.

Hi,

I have a spare pair that you can have if your anywhere near Manchester, parts got duplicated during an engine rebuild.I take it you mean manifold to head?Allow about 6 hours to do the job.

And the odd skinned knuckle!!

Hi waftycranker,

Yep the're the ones I am after. The ones which sit on the bottom of the 'V'.

So that 6 hours does that include removing cambelt and plenum etc. That seems a bit quick to me! Are you superman in disguise?

How much did you want posted as I am no where near Manchester.

Thanks.

Amazingly - £60 isn't actually a bad price from Nissan.. Those parts are about $55 ea. from Courtesy in the states..

Well ya can get all the inlet out without removin all the cambelt etc etc!!i done it in about that time!! Clark Kent i aint!!! and where abouts are ya,if ya want them postin?

but the inlet has the top idle pulley on it and thats the bit i'm replacing. i guess i dont need to remove the rest but i think i'll allow a bit longer.

I'm in Cambridge by the way.;)

Nope ;) As devil says, the upper idler pulley is mounted to the lower intake. If you remove the lower intake without removing the belt, your timing will probably go to pot because the belt will slip. Why not do a 60k service while you're there? ;)

CheerZ,

fraid not fella,s!!ya just clip the belt to the pulleys in position!! re-adjust auto tensioner after ya put it all back together!! no worries, personally i would change the belt as well, but back to the original statement..Ya CAN change the gaskets without removin the timing belt!! After only 7 posts you have dared to question the technical knowledge of the mighty Duff??!!!

Duffer knows a zed engine like the back (or even the palm) of his hand, so if he says it cant be done, then it cant be done!!!
