I was driving last night every thing was going fine, i must have driven 10 miles or so and felt a slight hesitation in the engine and then the power light came on for a few seconds. Any ideas why?

Not heard of that one before - try an ECU diagnostic and an auto box diagnostic

Do you mean the "Power" light for the auto box?

The auto box will shift itself into power mode for about 10 seconds if you boot it ;)

It also turns off the aircon for the duration to give an extra bit of go!

u mean it came on when u didnt boot it? mine has done this once or twice had to switch it back on then off to turn the light out, im not sure what triggers it to come on when its switched off. when i put the pedal to the floor theres like a micro swith click, maybe its this that is dodgy?

Yeh, the light has come on just after the engine hesitates/misses at a normal speed and acceleration.

could be dodgy tps or bad contacts on tps try cleaning....tps auto control unit uses tps sensor for power mode and may be getting a false signal...:)

I have tried cleaning the TPS contacts but not the control unit. Can i clean the TPS its self with WD40?

Previous to all this i had cleaned out the carbs, perhaps this could have affected the TPS sensor?

That will be your problem then, marmite - engines will either love it or hate it!!!;)

Have you checked all the obvious connections like the switch on the power/hold thingy on the dash, these cars have some funny reactions when things are loose/disconnected.
