Strange occurance when I pulled up to my house for a spot of lunch..........

Hunger satisfied I started up the Z & thought crackin day better go topless! Put the tops in the boot, got back in and was about to drive away when she turned herself off!!

On trying to start up again, all of the dash lights come on (including the 'hot cat' light, possibly for the first time?) but absolutely nothing happens!

No clicking, whirring, turning over or anything, absolutely zilch!

The 'hot cat' light only comes on when the ignition is switched right round to the final position when at which point she would normally fire straight up!

Being a total novice as this is my first Z, can anyone give any pointers? Any help at all would be appreciated!

Do you have an immobiliser on your car?

Could that have sorted or gone wrong?

I remember some one just got their Z home from buying it and it wouldnt start again. It turned out to be the immobiliser was stuck on.

Yeah it does have an immobiliser, a Clifford Avital top of the range thingy. Perhaps I'll give Clifford a call and see what they've got to say?

It definitely appears that, for whatever reason, the electrics are dead!

Cheers

Cliffords have always been a little tetchy!

That my be the problem.

It was my Z that got me home and then wouldn't start again. I tried everything and it did turn out to be the immoboliser.

The cables at the bottom of the engine bay had not been connected properly, so on the way home they disconnected themselves. I have now attached the cables properly and not had any bother since!
