Yet another fad. They all say theirs is the best and they all say the others dont work.

u cud b right, but a 64 yr old guy who has been doing weights for many years and has trained with champion bodybuilders was telling me how its done wonders for him in the last few weeks he's tried it.

I'm remaining sceptical but open-minded. I know there are so many false claims in this area - all designed to make a fast buck.;)

This 1 SEEMS to make sense -it's basically about doing really slow repetitions of each exercise - not a totally new idea -but it does put extra load on your muscles and takes away the momentum aspect of fast reps.

for maximum hypertrophy slow reps are the way to go,

anyway, a lot of that article is crap, cholesteral the number one cause of heart disease is 80% genetic 20% lifestyle thats why a lot of fit people suddenly drop down dead.

The main problem with cardivasular activity is that after 60minutes you produce cortisol (stress hormone) this can eat away at muscle and also causes fat belly thin leg syndrome (thats why so many office workers have fat bellies and thin legs - stress)

Most people get injured from running because they have incorrect technique and wear ill fitting shoes and socks, warm up incorrectly or run at wrong periods of their lives. When I ran a lot I was growing quickly, (9 inches in 2 years) and I subsequently injured my right knee which still hurts.

This article contradicts the previous one but i know it works

I think the point they were trying to make was that just because someone is physically fit, doesn't mean they are healthy.

they weren't trying to say that running kills you.

yes but it also means their programme will have as much effect health as any other routine, you have to control that 20% with proper intake of food and a regular exercise routine. I will probably have a heart attack by 50, it runs in the family and I have high level of stress heh.

IT is intersting and at the same time annoying how persuasive all these fitness gurus can be - it's a bit like religions - each one is THE way to go, but with fitness ideas they tend to totally contradict each other

Eat less calories than you burn and you will loose weight,

with HIIT it is a short routine but your body is fooled into bruning calories for upto an hour after you finish.

but if you are bodybuilding to increase muscle mass, aerobic work and reduced calorie intake can (to a > or

Thats why I don't do HIIT :)

Im currently 160 at about 13% Bodyfat after droppping to 138 at xmas after being quite ill for 8 weeks due to stress and a few other things. I am aiming for 180 with 10% body fat in the next 18 - 24 months.

My metabolism means fat drops off me quite easily though. I don't know much about it though, i guess someone like roy is 10^2x more experienced

Americans! Dont you just love them!

It amazes me that we can all look at the female diet industry and see who's conning who. BUT when it comes to guys and body building were are all suckers!

This is a multi billion dollar industry. It preys on the same insecurities in men that old bints like Rosemary Connelly do on the women. Genetics play a huge role, I mean american pro body builders have half the training and nutritional knowledge of europeans but are twice as good? Drugs? No. WE have far easier access to them?

Will to suceed?

Maybe ;)

I know a lot of americans who use prohormones and a few that use steroids and just sit on the couch building muscle :)

I like to think its more down to psychology and determination. At the end of the day nothing is healthy, it has been proven I think that oxygen leads to aging and subsequently death due to the free radicals it produces at a cellular level.

Well, I suppose that without oxygen, none of us would be likely to age by more than a few seconds! ;)
