Now that my autochanger is on the blink, I think I want to get a single disk mp3 player as they are not to expensive now. Havent done any reserch yet but does anyone want to tell me if there is anythin I should avoid or any features that are a must have. Do you need one with the Id3 tag support if you want the track names displayed

cheers

Paul

My missus (god bless her),

Just bought me a Pioneer DEH-P3500MP from halfords (£200) and it does it all (artist, album, track names), rather well.

Was well surprised how much you can burn onto a CD, loads!!

Best thing was, it wasnt even my birthday :D

I got mine from that audiodirect.co.uk that was posted on here a few days ago. They rated the Rockforge as the best MP3 player under £200.

It doesnt have ID3 but it does show the File name of the track which can be 32 characters long. The advantaged of not having ID3 apparetently is it takes less time to load a CD and to start playing a track.

You can see the radio on my signature now. The updated one is in graphite Grey or something not sliver.

I have an mStation, use it in place of an autochanger. Only has a 10GB drive but that will hold up to about 2500 tracks and you can fit a larger drive (if you have more tracks ripped).

Yeah they are great if you have £500+ to spend on a head unit

mStations are the best!!

I have one and need to install it again! ;)

This week I'll do it, and that's a promise!! :D

Quality bit of kit, as AndyP says, holds loads of stuff and it's easy to add more too.

Matty.

In theory they should work with any head unit that has an aux input.

So its like a seperate unit? Like how some CD players plug into tape decks?

I've just installed a Panasonic MP3/WMA cd player, model CQ-HX2083N. Incardiscount are offering them at £330 whilst everywhere else is £380. Link is below.

I've found it to be very good though a little slow on continuing play from last track position before the car was switched off i.e. it continues from last position of last track.

The beauty of this player is that when switched off the screen goes completely black. I've utilized this by keeping my stock head unit and installed the MP3 player in the cd player position giving the impression to prospective thieves that I've only got a stock cassette player. However, the facia is removable.

It looks very impressive with the spectrum analizer displayed and coloured cordinated to the stock clock display.

The down side is that with the Zed's facia, the Panasonic's facia plate will not fit and so leaves small gaps to the sides.

I would certainly recommend it considering that it has a touch screen display, comes with a small remote, is of high spec' and can be had for £50 cheaper.

Try this site, and you will be able to get an mp3 player for around the 130 mark. Panasonic one is nice aswell as the sony one. The sony one is out of stock at the moment, they are very competively priced at 130 and 150 respectively.

That is the time it takes for the MP3 player to make an index of the CD. For ones which dont use ID3 its quicker and that is the reason some dont put it on.
