What are rubber track rod boots filled with?

Are the track rod boots filled with oil or grease?

What type?

Mine have both split badly and dried out :(

Little track rod feet??;)

Silicon, and there's nothing you can do about it apart from replace them.

Nissan don't offer the bush as a replacement part, so they will quote you for a whole tie-arm, at about £150 I think.

The best bet is to fit aftermarket uprated Poly bushes, available from various places at a cost of about £50 for both sides. Takes a couple of hrs to remove the old bushes and replace them with nice poly ones.

i think chris is referring to the steering rack gaiters.

they are normally just dust covers, but a little grease around the rack joints wouldnt hurt

there is a school of thought to filling them with grease, but it is messy and of questionable value
