heres the scoop.... Got my car back from Nissan today, they replaced the Air Flow Meter saying it would fix my hesitation problems. Drove the car to work, Brakes failed, power steering failed, Black smoke pissed out the back of the car and then it stalled, finally got it started, left it to idle and watch the rev counter bounce from 0 to 2000, 0 to 1000, the f^&*king think looked like a clock being wound up, lights flashing smoke pissing out etc, called the Nissan emergency guy who brought the consult out to where the car had died plugged it in, and had the balls to tell me the car seemed fine....then told me to drive it back to Nissan while keeping it above 2000 rev the entire way cause it might stall, Told him to keep the F%^king car I wasnt making anymore payments till the thing runs as smooth as Knight Rider at an 80s revival!

Man do these guys have any qualifications or do they come straight out of Polytech?

Moral of the story...If you send you car to Nissan be prepared for it to come back worse than it went in!

Oh mate, don't wanna be the 1st to say "told you so!" but hey!

Look, Nissan main dealers are absolutely shite when it comes to this car. I should think it's pretty much the same the world over as I've seen people in the US complaining aswell.

Mind you, this doesn't just affect people like us with 300's. Before I got my car I was looking at getting a Porsche 928 and read somewhere that be careful when taking these particular Porches to OPC(Official Porch Centres) as they are mostly used to servicing and repairing 911's. Coz there aren't may 928's around the technicians tend to run straight for the manuals...worrying to say the least but it's a fact!!!

Same analogy is applied to Nelson Mandelas, the technicians spend 99.9% of their time working on Micra, Primera, Sunny and occasional Patrols and Terranos. So when they see a 300ZX come in they haven't got a clue!

Shame that you're over NZ as we've got some good guyZ over here in Blightey. You really should get in touch with some of the chapZ of your forum and try to get someone who knows WTF they are doing have a look at your car! Before Nissan a) empty your bank account(and they won't take any prisoners in doing this!) and b) leave you with a completely screwed motor!

I never understand why mechanically technical people that work for these garages will tell you that a part needs changing with no evidence or proof that this is what's causing the problem in the 1st place...F**KIN' LEO's!!!

that sucks but dont want to say told you so lol

Sorry to hear this. You mentioned before it's under warranty. Is it with this garage or Nissan or a third party ? If it is one of the latter two then you might be able to find a specialist that will do the work cheaper and more competently - that would make the warranty company happy and you ecstatic.

...Oh am I that blind??? So that they can rip you off and make a shit load of money out of you!

Threaten them with contacting Nissan NZ complaints dept. that should give them a kick up the arse! Failing that I've got the address and phone number of Nissan in Japan.

Thanks guys, this is Nissans final stand, my warranty company will be more than happy to change after this and I have a mechanic ready from the NZ Z club to look at it, just home Nissan havent screwed my car, btw Nissan quoted $400NZ for machined discs and new pads (I think about 135pounds) sound fair?

My god how are you keeping cool !!!!

I know all main dealers are unable to fault find the top range of their mark.I had a Sierra Cosworth 7 years ago and after a battery jump start at the road side by a b.down truck the abs light was on.Ford had the car all day and said the loom was damaged and the car needed completly rewiring!!!they charged me £80 for the diagnostic. I was not convinced and got hold of a wiring diagram and found an in line fuse to the abs ucu blown.A new fuse (10 pence) and all was well.Complained to Ford and got half of my money back.

Must admit, my local Toyota dealer were pretty good with me. However, just thought I'd tell you these two tales!

When I first got my Supra it went into local dealer for a service. This is always a nervous time coz you don't know what they are gonna come up with. Anyway, they did the service, I went to pick the car up and she(service manager...top totty aswell!) tells me that the back box needed replacing, ball joints were KO'd and my tyres were on the way out.

OK, car had covered 46,000 miles at this point, I admit, the tyres were slicks but to the day I part ex'd it I never had any trouble with the ball joints and never had a squeak out of the exhaust! Car had done 86,000 miles when she went...robbin' gits!

Another time while I was working in Sheffield, I had a CD fitted at Monty's, main Lexus dealer for Yorkshire. So enquired about having the cambelt done, guy told me that this can take upto 3 days due to trouble getting nuts off etc. WTF! Phoned my local dealer and told them, she(service manager again, Tanya I think her name was...lovely!) got a technician on the phone who proceeded to laugh his arse off with bemusement. Local Toyota did it in a couple of hours on a Saturday morning...don't believe a word you're told by Mandela's!
