me zed has sprung a leak from the power steering somewhere  & and it only leaks when on full lock. Does anyone know how i can fix this without £££££ from nissan, i assume due to it only happening at full lock that its only happening under high pressure?

oh...and can someone reccomend good steering fluid as i think i may be needing some:(

many thanks for all the help

I think the steering fluid the Z uses is actaully transmission fluid. Ask at your local car place which is best they should know.

Castrol Dexron III

btw its an N/A so it anit got hicas if that makes a difference.

looking at res where you pour in the steering fluid it sais "make sure filled to correct level" but when you take the top off to look for the fill mark it only has a Hot & Cold dipstick on it. ?? i

That dipstick it terrible. I am yet to understande how it tells you how much fluid is in there.

No the HICAS wont make any difference to which fulid to use.

Check out the hose that goes under the alternator pully. I've seen those blow fluid on full lock when damaged. £150 from nissan so remove the hose and take it to your local hydraulic specialists who will fix it for ~£30. The hose has a foam protection round it where it bends under the alternator pulley - check there for fluid ;)

thanks for all the replies, ive had a quick look under the car and it does leak just under the alternator pully, so cheers andyduff you were correct!:) i will get it repaired asap.

The question now is, would it be safe to drive around until then? as it only leaks under full lock i can normally go through a day without it leaking

i think i better go buy a big bottle of Dexron III tommorow:rolleyes:
