I'm after a good Radar Detector, there are alot of mobile camera's popping up in Essex these days.

Fiona (the other half) Got caught twice in the same week.

Once in her Z31 & once on her R1.

So have been looking for a Detector to help spot these things.

Meet John the other weekend @ North Weald & had a look at the 1 that he had.

A Bell 990, which is now a Bell Euro 550 which seems really good.

Can anyone sugest any thing better, apart from sticking to the speed limit.

Any idea's would be helpful.

Hi Jan,

REZPECT to you and yours! I would love to meet your Mrs. and beg her to take me out on the back of her R1!

Right, back to what you wanna know, firstly go to this site and read all about it...

http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk

This site has everything you need to know, I used to have a Snooper which was pretty good!

However, after reading about tests done with radar/laser detectors against Rozzers finest, I wouldn't bother! If you wanna get adequate warning of cameras get yourself a Morpheus Geodysey which is a GPS device and can give you a decent advance warning! People are raving about them, and bikers love them.

Apparently it takes 0.3 of a second for the copper to target you with laser and receive the distance you've travelled plus your speed. By the time your radar/laser detector alerts you, the Rozzers are recording your registration...forget it! Also, in one of the tests on that site the copper nails someone from 750m away and they reckon that on a lovely straight, flat road they can get you from a distant Kilometre away e.g. while your vehicle is a dot on the horizon. Also, forget radar, most of the nastey mobile devices either use laser or piezo strips in the road which are also UNDETECTABLE!

Best device I've seen on there is the Snooper laser jammer, now this is f**kin' well worth the money. Check out the results, they put every Laser cannon used in the UK up against it and the POOR little laser gun can't get a speed...ahhhhh! F**k 'em!

SPECCS cameras, which are breeding faster than bacteria, are not detectable by anything. You are however, safe on your bikes as they take pics of front of the vehicle and the government weren't that arsed about bikers escaping the penalties as they have figured the Sherriff of Nottingham revenue generated from four wheel vehicles is more than substantial!

So, I will be getting a Morpheus to alert me to the fixed camera sites around the country and hopefully a lasar jammer from Snooper! When I can find someone who sells them!

Take care mate

I've got an old-ish BEL 635i and it's not much cop (ooops sorry!) at all. Very good at detecting everything from traffic lights to garage door thingys, but not a tweet through most of the known speed traps. So this either proves that a) they're not turned on, b) it doesn't detect those frequencies, c) it don't bloody work.

hello jan ive just fitted one this weekend snooper 915ir brain goes under the round instrument cluster, sensor front and rear window, and led readout audio warning in narrow air slot that on top of center consol, as it is only 10mm*50mm big.

tested through gatso today in built up areas like town reads about half a mile away. on duel carrige ways about a mile so plenty of time to come down from 180mph like.

havent had the old speed gun yet thoughso yet to be tested.

all round so far it is very good. later"T"............

The bell 990 picks up the grey Gatsos a good 50 yards and it also picks up the mini gatsos which the seem to be using around essex instead of the laser guns because the don't have to pull you up. If the Morpheus Geodysey uses a data base then it won't pick up the mobile mini gatsos.

I've had my 990 for over a year and I am very impressed with it.

Tim - you should check the links on that site you listed wink.gif

http://www.radardirect.co.uk/

They sell radar detectors, laser jammers, the lot, all direct, and at good prices too..

If anyone wants laser or radar gear get in touch, i am a snooper dealer but can get bell and others.

Bob

I've had a Bell 980 for a couple of years which is almost identical to the 990 and I think it's excellent.

Certainly a massive improvement over the crap Uniden unit I had before.

The Gatso range is good enough to allow you to spot them and slow down in time (unless you are 140mph + LOL!).

You still get a few false alarms but nothing like I used to get at every set of automatic doors.

Having looked at ukspeedtraps, am I being dumb? The review of the Snooper is the same as the Blinder...

... are they the same unit, just rebadged?
