HI ALL i give up with frustration with the wiring for these fog lights cos mines an import i have to fit one for mot. tried the rear brake lights as fogs using a relay switch but both banks of brake lights came on , i had a bit of success in getting them to come on and off that is as fog lights on both sides of car but you can,t pass mot with fog lights on both sides of car plus the one on the spoiler lit . any body got a photo of a foglight fitted to a z which looks ok to give me an idea where to fit it or a photo of a reverse lamp converted to a foglight or any other options i could try cheers cully z:)

i had the same problem. i wired up a fog light 2 a switch under the dash witch has 2 light up so i wired that in 2 the main light switch in2 the dash. if that makes anysense;)

aye giggle looks like thats the route i ,ll b taking but where to fit an after market fog which will look ok beats me, where r the fogs on a uk model located 2? cheers cully z :)

Uk cars have fog-lights in the rear bumper...

shame you couldn't get the relay stuff working, looks good when sorted - ask smw1 :D

I've also seen a strip fog light attached under the rear number plate..

ok jaffa maybe with a better diagram of how the wires r cnnected to the relay i could do it cheers cully z:)

i drilled 1 hole 2 fix an after market fog lamp in2 the bumper. then just take it off after mot. not much fog in bournmouth lol:D :D

Hi, Yeah Jaffa (James) helped me wire up the rear fogs to SMW2 today. Turns out I was using an incompatable relay. Got a another one from Maplins and with James pointing to wires and terminals on the relay, I wired it up and what do you know. It worked fine.

I ran a switch to the font of the car and into the blank where the cruise controls would usually sit.

LOL, funnything is that I have gone through 2 Stop and Tail light sensors to get this to work. They are only a tenna off of Andy Z, but it's still cost me a lot more than it should have done.

Thanks for your help James, very much appreciated.

If you need any help sorting those O2 sensor out, let me know. :D

This is basically the set up I used with a 6 point relay to switch between circuits. This then hooks up onto the inner brake lights, replacing the brake light signal with the one from the relay.

You'll want an illuminated switch to pass the MOT

Why not make one of your reverse lamps a fog:

1. Dissconect the wires running to the offside fog

2. Run a new wire down the car to a switch at the front

3. Buy a red bulb

4. Hey presto

Yeah I had this on my TT before I got a UK bumper.

But the just looks so much better being symmetrical. With only 1 reversing light I used to get people saying "you've got a bulb out mate".

With the inner brake lights, it really does look the part.

Another Idea, I can't remember who mentioned this, I think it was James300 but it could have been Paul Gunn or Jaffa. Was to drill out and attach another bulb holder to the bottom of the reversing lights pod. This is then connected up with a red bulb. So this way you get both your reversing lights and two fogs in the same lenses. only down side would be reversing in the fog but who does that ?

cheers guys going to get a 6 point relay and follow the diag i will let u know how i get on thanks for all the help cully z:D :D

Similar to SMW1, I've used the 2 reflectors above the reversing lights, fitted 2 bulb holders with red bulbs and a seperate relay switch (lit) on the side of the cruise control unit. Hey presto. This mod is similar to that carried out by the importers thus keeping the rear look clean and not making a b**ls cutting a whole in the bumper.

You could try my method,

1. Buy an aftermarket hi level brake light that comes with a bracket so you can adjust the angle.

2. Fit it to the underside of the rear bumper, so that the bracket isnt visible, see pic

..And once youve had your MOT, fold it up under the bumper till next year!!! oh i mean unless it gets foggy of course officer in which case just fold it down again.

CHEERS guys for all yr help .. i went down the reverse light with a red bulb jobby so when it goes for mot i hope they will pass it with that set up. also i will change the red bulb back to normal bulb after mot and put the reversing lights back to normal as well anyway thanks again for all yr help cully z:D :D
