Removing propshaft

I'm removing thhe front propshaft section to get the auto box out but can't seem to get the 2 halves apart :(

Am I doing it right?

I've taken the centre support bearing off and got the 4 bolts out holding the sections together but they dont seem to want to separate.

Is there something i've missed or is it just siezed together?

On my Manual, it was just those 4 bolts, get plenty of leverage and use the handbrake to stop it turning.

Admittedly they were pretty easy compared to other bolts i had to tackle, maybe i was lucky?

Memory serves me correct they're only supposed to be torqued to around 40lb/ft?

You're not using a 2" spanner that came out of a christmas cracker are you?

I've actually taken the 4 bolts out that hold the 2 sections together but they are still fixed as though glued or bolted from inside!

Do i just need to break it apart?

I thought when the bolts came out it would just fall in two!?

Rip those babies apart!

It's just the bolts holding them.

Just to make sure, you are talking about the 4 bolts joining the 1st part of the shaft (which goes in the gearbox) and the 2nd (which im guessing goes in the diff, but can't remember if it goes all the way) right?

Is there an inner locating lip? If so you might need to lever between the flanges to get it to 'pop' apart. I might be talking b0ll0x, but there has always been a locating lip on props that i've taken apart in teh past, although I have no direct experience of the Zed one.

Hope this is of some help Chris.

yep you're right Chris there is a lip or ridge inside the flanges, just prize the two pieces apart,i used a sharpend cold chisel and a hammer, couple of good taps and they came apart.

Yeah thats exactly what i did in the end, the flange had rusted up inside and they were locked solid.

It took 2 hefty chisels forced in to break them apart.
