My guess is that you autobox is on the way out. Filters inside are getting clogged with bits of clutch plate & band etc preventing any oil pressure from building up. Rebuild time - brace yourself for a large bill !

It may be worth checking the oil level in the auto box, had the same thing on my volvo a while back, they sorted the level and it was fine. Hope its this rather than the rebuild:)

thanks oil level seems fine. think ill get it 2 work and take the sump tray off .had a big think about it and ithink if their is an oil pick up pipe its gettin bloked with shit. which i think would xplain why it runs ok after u turn it off asin all the shit drops from the pick up pipe if their is 1 .

andy p i guess if this is the problem im definatley lookin at a rebuild . wot a bummer just about 2 invest in a boost controller

Giggles,

I had exactly same thing on a sd1 v8 rover few years ago.

I put a new filter/gauze thing in the auto box and it was fine after.

Mind u, it did pack up all together about 8 mnths later!

hmm yeah mayb if i clean it once a week mayb itll b ok lol:D

I guess that depends upon what has broken up and is blocking the filter. But I can virtually guarantee you that if you increase the power (with a boost controller etc) then your gearbox will be history. Been there, done that !

cheers. got out their this mornin took it up the road started makein a wirrin noise comin from gearbox even wen in neutral. gearbox out then:eek:

The noise you are hearing could be your oil pump in your transmission.....never heard of one of these going in a zed yet though that would give you the symptom of near loss of drive other than that your torque converter could be on its way...i'd recomend at least dropping out the tranny oil and checking for any dirt or metal particles of and kind..when you have droped the oil tray inspect the magnet for deposits..mechanical breakup will be very obvious.....What sort of milage has you zed done....hope this helps.....Andy L

thanks andy L. its done about 80k . but i need it fixin asap so iv booked it in2 automatic gearboxs (poole) they seem 2 know their stuff :)

Either that or you can get a second user one from around £395 including a minimum 30 day warranty....try find a part they are good for locating second user parts.....and most breakers will deliver to your door....

Here is there link http://www.findapart.co.uk

Hope this helps
