Who said turbos get hot? There is no proof that they do. We all hear about the glowing with the heat.

See this Porsche 911 turbo doesn't seem to suffer from turbos glowing with the heat

I can only plead that i nicked it from a site about some kiwi's Z32 (link in earlier post).

So you're clearly cleverer than both me, Kiwis and everyone else who looked at the pic and didn't notice / couldn't count!

I wonder what it is from?

Oh, I don't know.......on a long journey I wrap a jacket potato in some foil and throw it in the engine bay.

....and hey presto.....when you arrive at your destination you have a healthy snack waiting for you under the bonnet.

Lol,

always wondered where the saying 'a chip off the old block ' came from.

ok, ok, a v8 OR a 4 cylinder :)

And I think that the piccy is from a toyota celica grp A rally car...Ill check when I can be arsed digging the book out :)

The area under the bonnet is very well designed in any car capable of 150mph+... vents etc are for the most part worthless and may well screw the dynamics elsewhere in the speed range... vents in the bonnet at speed may cause air to become turbulent under there slowing the cooling aur passing by the turbos... they may glow on an Ro-Ro but out there they will have copious amounts of warm air passing by them and disappearing under the car where it being warm will be better at adhering to the contours...

The ideal as in say in this GTR thread... simple and would make a real difference...
