Personally I cant see why you shouldn't, but I know very little about them.

I ask as today having a little fun on a dual carrage way, I floored, and at about 5,000-5,500 RPM I could hear a loud blowing/hissing noise. Is this the wastegate releasing the extra air? It could be a turbo leak but I know I have a very small one at the back but I could only just hear it when I had 8PSI in the engine, but I cant see it making that much noise that I can hear it over the engine and wind noise.

Any ideas what it could be?

I dont hear any noises like that mate, apart from when i have a squeemish passenger :D

Sounds like a boost leak as the waste gate doesn`t release any air. It opens on the exhaust side to slow the turbo. If it didn`t the turbo would spool up to its maximum, which maybe more than the engine can handle. Big bang, lots of mess and a crying zed owner. :D

There is a posibility that the turbos will explode. Blades spinning over 100,000 revs a min have the potential to brake through the casing and through the body of the car.
