Apexi Air Filter

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Having recently purchased a Jap Import K reg Auto Twin Turbo Fairlady Z I decided to fit an Apexi Power Intake Filter. Unfortunately when I offered up the filter to the air flow sensor the bolt pattern did'nt match. After re-drilling a couple of holes I got the filter on, however when I took her for a test drive all was well on " normal " driving but when I put my foot down the revs just died, foot off the gas revs came back, foot down revs died. I was not able to solve this problem and had to put the stock air box back on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Phil.

Who did you buy the filter from? It should have fitted perfectly as mine did.

Did you reset the ECU when you put the filter on? You should have so the ECU can relearn how to work, especially with an increased airflow.

Also make sure the wire to the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) was correctly plugged in and it wont hurt to clean the contacts while it was unplugged.

Disconnect the battry for 45 mins. Try leave it for an hour and then connect it up again.

Also when you put it back on check the connection to the MAS as what you discribed sounded more like a MAS problem

Seeing as it's not 300zx specific as the bolts didn't line up, sounds to me it's leaking air where it joins the AFM, take it off and smear some sealant where it has all the holes, refit to AFM and wipe clean any excess.

If its the same size as my Apexi air filter it needs Brackets. The filter would be bouncing around all over the place surely!!!!!!!

Mine came with 4 brackets-also fits exactly!!!!
