Home internet connection!

The rules are simple go to

http://promos.mcafee.com/speedometer/

Click on "Test Now" then grab the result on the next page that pops up.

I know that the results can be fiddled but this result was absolutely genuine - just upgraded to 1MBit/sec NTL cable modem!

I did think it odd so a ran it twice more and it came back with exactly the same figures and i mean exactly.

So either for some reason it hasn't worked properly or ntl charge me for a 600kbs connection which is actualy a slow 1mbit connection.

I suspect the former.

Wow, that's fast!!

I'm guessing its because I was (briefly) using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape 7 gave the following result:

File Size: 600.005 KB Time Elapsed: 5.017 seconds 956.72 Kbps

Blue Yonder 1Mb but I'm downloading loads of stuff in the background, running ICQ, MSN etc

Good old Bill Gates eh? Its nice to know that running Microsoft software makes my internet connection 100 times as fast lol

Anyone used Freedom2surf ASDL? I'm moving house on Monday and that's what I'm planning on getting as its only £22 a month and has static IP adress compared with £30 a month for blue yonder cable. Is this a bad move?

not a very good speed for 1mbit ntl, but i consistantly download at 128kbytes so theres nothing wrong with my connection, i think maybe 150 k file is too small to get a good average
