Hi guys, me again. Posted some questions yesterday, most of which were answered - many thanks - but still need some info on the above.

1. Rear foglight - Mine is an aftermarket Lee-screw-on number fitted under the bumper. I'd like to integrate that into one of the reverse lights. Has anyone done this, what materials/tools do I need, and is it a tricky thing to do? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

2. Had a flat tire yesterday - wresstled with the next-to-impossible onboard jack (must get a better one) only to find out that my flat was flat as well ... Should have checked before of course but you know how life goes ... On the tyre itself it states that it must be inflated to 4kg/cm but I can't find a single service station that has an airhose that measures in this unit. Can anyone tell me what the correct pressure (in either lbs/inch or bar) should be?

3. Having seen your posts on modifying lightbulbs to fit a Jap Import model, I have decided that it might be easier if I buy UK spec headlight units from someone who is breaking a late model Z (UK spec). Will this work (i.e., are the connections and mounting the same) or am I asking for trouble?

Many thanks for your replies - you guys really are helping me out on a lot of issues.

Cheers!

Danny

Oi Desperate,

Right, firstly, the rear fog thing...I know that I saw a site where guyZ with FTO's were doing this. I should think you probably can do it on the Z beast but no idea how. Not much help that was it? LOL! Sorry!

I would inflate the spare to whatever the other tyres should be...looks in notebook.............

Front 33 psi

Rear 36 psi

That's load & normal according to Nelson Mandela as I had to ring them up to get them when I got my car.

Headlights...hmmmm...good luck with getting a later Z set from any breakers etc. They are as rare as the preverbial wooden horse shite!

I asked about getting the later Z units, you can get them from Nelson's but I think that they are a right packet. Someone scared me off by quoting a rediculous figure of 1K large or something.

Would be worth a phone call me thinks!

;-)

1. I'll pass please Bob

2. To convert kg/cm2 into psi, multiply by 14.223, to convert kg/cm2 into bar, multiply by 0.9804

3. Pass :-) But gotta be cheaper to modify the bulbs surely....

Az

Oh and further to TT up there...

You don't inflate a tire to what the tire is rated at (4kg/cm2 comes out to 57psi - probably the max the tire is rated at). Tire inflation is dependant on car, not tire/wheel.. So whatever size/make tire you have, always inflate it to the recommended amount (unless you're playing with inflations for the track or drag strip.. lower=better grip, high=less flex, but less grip, more or less!)

Az

...LOL! Everyone loves a smart arse MENSA wannabe candidate!

I was assuming that his wheels are standard with standard size tyres...

Hi Danny just posted to Matty about meeting Sat poss at Polesworth or other?let us know

By the way I have a trade account there on the parts counter so if you are getting any expensive bits use my discount.

Not too sure about spare tyre pressure but the fog lights I do.i converted a one pair of the brake lights via a relay and switch.this gives the normal 4 brake lights until you switch on the fogs and then the y split 2 brake 2 fog all reverts to norm when switched off. I have the wiring diagram if u or any one else interested. Jeff TT

Jeff,

Interested in that wiring diagram. I have one pair as brake lights and one pair as fogs.

Danny

...my jap import has the high-level brake light wired as the fog light. It no longer works as a third brake light and only comes on if you switch it on - via a new illuminated switch 'hidden' in the speedo binnacle. It was done at the time the speedo conversion was done and looks real simple to do. If you want, I'll get inside the binacle and describe the wires that need cutting/joining - just email me.

..spare pressure - get rid of the spare wheel altogether, get rid of the jack etc, carry an aerosol tyre inflator and a pair of pliers. Less weight, more speed.

...light - eat mor carrots.

good luck

Jack

Not sure of the legality of having a single 'high level' fog light. Might be worth checking BEFORE you get a ticket.

Andy

...went through SVA test and subsequent MOT, no probs. I think its about 10cm below max height.

thanks anyway

Jeff - I would... But I don't actually own one yet (well not of the Zed variety!).. Still looking... And looking.. I'll find one!

Plus there's the slight problem of money.. Lol - need to sell the car first..

Guys - thanks for the info. I'll let you know what I want to do. I am on the trail of someone who has converted the unused reverse light into fog lights. As soon as I have more info I'll post it.

Jack - thanks! I'll consider getting rid of all that clutter. As for the fog light - I'll get back to you on that one later.

Cheers!

JeffTT & Matty:

Just confirmed with Polesworth that my car is going in at 11 a.m. on Saturday 21st July.(should take no more than 20-30 mins) I'll most likely be at the service desk, if not I'll find you on their customer parking lot across the street. Call me if you're not going to make it - 07044016586. Z U There!

Danny

UK spacesaver says Inflate to 60 psi (almost twice the normal tyre pressures).

This is not the tyre rating-type message.

Low speed use only (I can't remember what speed was quoted. Was it 50 m.p.h.?
