Anyone tried the polyurethane bushes, particularly in the front?

Are they worth fitting before the old ones are kaput?

Featured Replies

Simmo i just fiitted 2 bushes to the front tension rods on my 300 party as the origional bushes were fu**** and as it was the cheaper alternative. 2 bushes were 60 quid delivered...Nissan wanted 91 plus vat each....i just fitted them 2 nite and there is a big difference to the steering and the brake shudder i had is almost gone just very slight.

Jusy my 2p's worth

Yep, make a good difference. The responce in the steering is quicker. Well worth doing.

Thanks for that. I have noticed some shake at some speeds even after recent wheel balance and a bit of juddering under heavy(ish) braking.

I see that the whole set is £155 plus vat and carr from Z Centre. The rear suspension is off the car now; the existing bushes are ok but it might be a good idea to change them anyway. (While I'm ordering, might as well get the short-throw gear shift...)

I just got my front wheels balanced because I had slight vibs around 85ish. It was awful after balancing with real steering shake at 65. Figured it was done wrong.

So then I went to my local big wheels people to get it re done right with diagonals balanced accross the rim as well. Once again shakes and vibration on braking which was never there before. Figured that maybe it had to do with air wrench tightening of wheel nuts. Half way into a long journey cruising fast I stopped slackened off the nuts and re tightened by hand evenly doing it opposite nut next kind of thing. The brake vib disappeared, the shake on the steering wheel disappeared only still a slight feel of vibration at highish speeds.

Conclusion is that either the hub and disc or the wheel is distorting if unevenly tightened. I am thinking of trying even less torque on the nuts to check the effect. Even wondered if the locking nut can throw off the balance as it is lighter than the other ones.

I have BBS 18" X 8.5 on the front (Also with poly bushes on tension rods)

Next thing to look at will be the top links because I did have slight play on one.
