For Jap spec TT use Super as a minimum, and Shell Optimax as a preference. My ZXTT has not had any sort of fuel other than Optimax in it since the product came out. Makes a BIG difference over standard unleaded.

As for 'power' chips, there seem to be a lot of them around, and reading previous posts most seem to be pretty schit. Read more posts from here (do a search on chips) and make up your own mind.

Good luck!

No - it's b0ll0x. You should ONLY used unleaded. If you put leaded or LRP, you'll damage the cats (if you still have 'em) and cause all sorts of god knows what.

Use the best octane unleaded - I use Optimax. But I've had no problems with lower grades if I can't get it. This is for unmodded (except for exhaust) J import.

For modded cars, I am sure you'll get some input from modded car peeps here.

Cheers - Gio

Gio, I think Mr Magnet meant he should never use 'regular' unleaded!

Optimax is the only fuel I will put in mine, nothing else.

I've read that jap fuel is over 100 ron or so, so putting Optimax in is just getting as close to that as you possibly can.

I put some octane booster in mine the other week and was impressed with the results...............although its tricky to distinguish whats in your mind and what is actual gains!

Ah so - wakarimas'

Just sounded as if someone was giving cr*p advice to a member in good standing (Mr Magnet).

Konbanwa - Gio

I use Shell Optimax - absolutely brilliant.

Geoff.

thank's for all the info guy's!

seems as though most of you us optimax rather than standard unleaded so i'll give it a go then try an octane booster too!

there's no point in me trying to upgrade power if i'm no getting best out of what ive already got!

nice one!

hopefully i'll sort out postin ice + wheel pic's today?

I use LRP in mine, cheaper than Optimax and has a high RON. When ambient temps are high in summer I use octane booster as well, just as a precaution really. By the way I have no cats (Except for Alfie the Bastard).

DO NOT USE LRP IF YOU HAVE CATS!!! IT WILL KILL THEM. (Very Cruel):D

Regarding Chips, I haven't seen the power chips in action on a Z but have heard something about Powerchips and Superchips not being very good with Z (do a search see what you get).

FYI Ashley Powers Zemulator is out soon and allows real time map alteration and tracing. It will sell in the US for $700, I am looking at importing them to the UK for fellow Z owners, not sure on pricing yet but it should all be happening soon. A bit pricey compared to some chips but is as good, if not better than a stand alone ECU IMHO therfore is VERY good value. Wait and see!!!

Hope this helps.

The results will be interesting on ASHS ecu, but as ever you fear there is a very one sided story line about this.

Like everyone says on the same dyno on the samde day, test a JWT ecu with a Super AFR and tune that, the results will be pretty much the same.

Its a great product non the less, just a pity when he started it out it was going to cost $250 then just kept creeping lol.

I feel the same, it is a pitty that the costs have crept up but I know he has spent a lot of time and money on R&D. It is still cheaper than buying a standalone laptop programable ECU from the likes of Motech. I like the idea that I am in control of the tuning for MY car. I work on the principal that there are so many performance mods for the Z available that nearly all modified Z's are going to be different and therefore need different map's to each other. I also like the idea that it now has expandability for the future (NOS triggering, Water injection control etc). I just don't see how anyone can sell the same benefits for less, after all the most expensive part of the setup is already on the car (ECU & wiring).

In principal his idea will allow the most versatile tuning potential but power gains will be based on how well it is setup for the car.

Another thing I like is that you do not need to rely on a dedicated tuning shop to readjust the system for future upgrades like injectors and dual intatake, it can all be done by the end user. Again this is a money saver for the future.

I am awaiting a Zemulator from Ash for evaluation which should be here soon, I will post the results for everyone to see when they are available.

You know what they say about the "Proof of the Pudding..".

yeah will be interested to see the net resuly.

problem is you can go get an emanage for roughly the same price with the boost controller ect, and that makes a hell of a good starting up point for 90% of the people.

i think what hes doing is great, how long before you have it done?

is he sending it with a premap setup for you?

I should have it in the next few weeks (he has my money) subject to the circuit boards being completed on time. I haven't asked for anything special, it is coming with a base map for me to work from (tuning is part of the fun).

Anyone got a Graphing rolling road I can use near Sussex, otherwise I have to use my mates older meter based road which will be a lot slower.

Paul:)
