A 200sx came into the workshop with an idling problem last week, intermittently cuting out at junctions and erratic tickover speed.

A tb clean, removal of the idle control valve and a clean through restored it to near perfect, the idle valve does need replacing in fair but the guy was selling so suppose he won`t change it, but the car had been to a tuning company and Nissan who both failed to correct the problem.

The first charged £55 for cleaning (not very well) the throttle body (bloody hell!) and Nissan charged the guy £80 for 25 minutes on their Consult machine and a base idle adjustment! the car cut out at the first junction he camed to after leaving Nissan! and when he returned they said all that could be done had been done and advised him his engine was worn (53k miles on clock!)

Now I do not have personal experience of this low level of service but the more I am told the more sceptical I become of Nissan dealers ability to actually work on their own cars. :(

Ok rant over

Ps Our charge to customer £FOC since it took like less than 10 minutes!

It could be worse Jeff,

They could have got me to fit the air filters ;)

LOL

The car is better now thanks, but the idle is still a bit rough.

Any idea why my car is so unresponsive at low revs?
