'Lo all,

As you may know my Zed is idling like a bitch at the moment, really lumpy.

I'm having lots of practice at left foot braking in traffic though, which is nice ;)

But I have found, If I drive really gently when the car is cold untill I hit traffic, as soon as I get to the traffic the car is nearly undriveable.

The idle makes the car lurch foward at slow speeds and it keeps trying to stall.

This will continue to happen till I get the chance to boost a little, after that it's a lot better.

But, if I start the car and push it a little when first moving off, (not rag the tits off it  ) Just get the boost into the positive part of the gauge for a few seconds it's generally lots better when I hit the traffic.

Not ideal I know, but it's going to Jeff on Saturday for a service so hopefully that will help :D

I changed the air filters...Badly ;)

Cleaned the MAS and TPS.

It was already a pretty rough idle before, but Jeff improved it.

Now it's a nightmare! :(

I guess Monkeys like me should stick to breaking PCs and printing equipment not 300ZXs! ;)

Where was that list of what to work through if you had uneven/eratic tickover? Was it on AndyP's or TT.net site?

That was really good........that should be top of the list of any faq section!

I went trough some of that but after doing the MAS/TPS and air filters it was running so rough I gave up because I didn't want to make it even worse! :(

Sounds like you need a ConZult - I'll bring it with me to Japfest.

I have gone through most from the list and my car is running gr8, cleaner pick up and throttle responce, try cleaning the throttle bodies.

Jeff cleaned the throttle bodies last week.

Eric, you said you gave up? No one has the magic answer, you just got to take your time and work through the possibilities one by one.

Yeah, I know I gave up, but every now and then it shows some promise of being a quick car then goes back to normal :(

I had these sort of problems last week. With Andy's help and a few others on the forum, I did an ECU check, and the temp sensor

was not connecting (contacts were corroded at the water sensor.

One clean up, and ECU was ok, and all the hesitation, etc went away.

so worth doing an ECU test for any codes.

Eric,

Had precisely these symptoms when the Zed went into Jeff's last time. He told me what the problem was on my car (over me head I`m afraid) but the good news is that he fixed the problem using Conzult.

Only thing that was faulty was the Det sensor (boo hiss) but this was not related to the poor running. Hope you get it sorted soon:)

I had a faulty det sensor too :(

Still when I get there Jeff wil take her out for a spin and after he stiffles his giggles I'm sure he'll have a good idea of whats wrong ;)
