Just spent most of the weekend putting a rear fog on for the MOT had to remove all the stuff in the boot and half the seats just to feed a fookin wire through, that and tidy up the rather odd foglight setup the previous owner had done.

Ive even put an light inside to come on when its on, so thats covered, just dont know if its too close to the ground?

think you might get away with that bud,it looks better than the abomination the prat who owned my Z put on.:o

Seen an Audi TT with it's rear foglight like that (I guess it was an import), so I would assume it's OK....

I think it would be OK,however PaulC will know as he is a MOT tester;)

My dad's GTO has had one of the reversing lights changed to a fog light. I guess there's a red bulb in there as the glass is still clear. Quite a good way of doing it i think.

Id say legal, just check out ford fukkus, with fog light and reverse light in the lower left corner of the car, in the bottom of the bumper!

Cool, i hope so, its an eye level brake light that ive used as a fog but the bracket ive put it means i can fold it up under the bumper when im not using it (can also make a wird red glow on the floor with it for when i feel like racing novas round the town!!!).

I can't see much wrong with that Berks, except for the fact that it might stop those loverly speed cameras from taking a nice piccie of your rear plate!!:D ;)

Best just take it to a garage that does MOT's and ask them.;)

Cheers.

as far as the MOT is concerned, the fog lamp must be fitted to either the Centre or O/S of the vehicle.

dont forget you also need a light on the dash to let you know its on

HTH:)

You have to have a light on the dash or at least where it can be seen etc, as for height, for the SVA they want a MINIMUM of 250mm from the ground, with a full tank of fuel. This is fact, but MOT? dont know.

There is an easier way mate.

What i have is an illuminated switch under the dash.

This is running to the rear lights.( the 12v red wire )

when it comes to mot time.

i use one of the centre brake lights as the fog light.

so the outer two are the brake lights.

when mot finished and passed, i connect the centre brake lights back up as brake lights.

you only have to tap into one wire.

Cheers Dave.

PS

This way you don't have to have an ugly rear fog light hanging from the bumper:D :D

I dont fancy testing it out much, especially as my rear plate came out very visible in the pic with the foglight on!!

hey B19RKS, did you notice that the aliens have stolen your gear changer and replaced it with some kind of phase-inverting neutron agitator type weapon!?

:) :)

Just a thought, but all I do.. is I have a switch with light, and

some wire.

Each year, I just duct-tape the fog light to the rear tow tag on offside rear of car, put wire through boot, and duct tape switch to dash (wiring power into cigarette lighter).

It takes 5 mins to fix up.

MOT bloke is happy as it passes what is needed.

Then once got MOT, and take it back off.

Unless you feel the need for a rear fog light (clearly for some other reason than fog, since in 15 years of driving I have encountered fog that requires a rear fog light exactly ONCE (visibility less than 60 yards).

Just to be nitpicky, strictly speaking your car has to be MOT-abl;e at all times. Just because your car's got an MOT certificate, this doesn't get you out of trouble if you subsequently have an MOT fault.

The people who did mine have (somehow) got a couple of the brake lights to turn into foglights. I think JeffTT does this but his site doesn't say how and I can't find any other reference.

Cheers - Gio

Same with my Z.

When I got it it had recently been SVA'd and had one of those horrible square fog lights hanging down on the rear bumper.

I took it to my mechanic who changed the speedo to MPH and also wired the fog light into one of the brake lights. So that I could ditch the add on fog light. Neat job!!:D :D

Mine had this, but i think something went a knacker with it as it had a relay bolted to the stereo cage which was fine but it upset the sony one so i tore it out in a paddy!!, plus i wanted all 5 brake lights to work, on alot of the conversions you lose the two inner brake lights.

How dare you talk about my only "mod" like that!!!;)

Twenty mins to fit, Anyone need any help on this call macca!!

I seem to remember when talking to Jeff that with his conversion the car retained all of the brake lights until the fogs were switched on. I dont know if the diagram listed in this thread is Jeffs or not.
