Heh I was driving past one of the amusement arcades down here and I spotted a rather fetching cabinet dumped outside, so I blagged it and am going to build a MAME arcade machine to go with my two pinballs:

 

Im going to install my spare IIyama 22" widescreen SVGA and install a Athlon PC in the base of the cabinet. Then im going to put in my X-Arcade mame controller I bought off Ebay:

 

I have all 4000 odd roms so ill bang them on a 10 gig hard disk in the cabinet and hey presto - every arcade game ever made in one machine !

 

It'll be wicked:)

I remember when MAME would only run games like Pacman and Moon Cresta, the really old ones. Now it will run new classics like Out Run, and Street Fighter the original :D.

 

A part of me is thinking that what you have done is stupid and a waste of money though. But its the jealous part of me which is thinking that. LOL

 

I WANT ONE!. Hehehehe

I was planning on doing the same thing last year. Now I can use Mame on my Xbox and play the games through my TV, I can't be arsed! :D

how much was the controller Glen?? do they come up often on ebay??

No that controller is made by a few companies in the US, and other places too I think. There are about 3 or 4 companies which make them and range from 1 joystick to the 2 joystick with the seats to the 4 joystick setup. Some even offer the big tracker ball too.

 

Its not an actuall Arcade joystick, its a PC one, which works very well with Mame.
