turbo

Talking to the guy who fitted me a new battery (Boch Silver £58.)

A friend of his has been quoted £5,000 for 1 new turbo.

They say 40 hours labour, what the f**k is that all about??

Told him about this site, any of you wizzards know contact numbers and prices? His Lady Friend loves the car but is considering selling because she can not afford the bill from Nissan.

Come on guys lets keep another Z purring and away from Nissan dealers.

PS she will not mind travelling if the price is right.

£5000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FFS!!!

Now for that money you could get another Zed! Or get so many mods...hmmm.. mods... ;)

But seriously, you should be looking at about a 10th of that?

Could anybody back me up on this?

I know it says Huntingdon on your thread....but ,excuse my ignorance...where is that? And is your friend from there as well?

Cheers,

F.T.

Unless they're talking about massive upgraded turbos, I can't see how it would cost much more than £1500-2000 to do both (which I think is what most people would recommend doing anyway).

I've never had mine done, so I can't really recommend anywhere, but £5k is way over the top.

Way way way OTT!!! About £700 labour plus parts should see you right - you can get stock turbos reconned for around £350 each - NEVER replace only one side - always do both!

So really a fair price would be around £1500 - no more...

CheerZ,

Andy

Hi Tony

Huntingdon is about 20 miles north of Cambridge.

And yes the Lady Friend lives in my area.

Andy

Do you have any contact numbers?

Thanks Guys

Have found out today that the Lady Friend of my Battery Man has sold her Z.

She has got a '98 Celica, paid £6.000 + her Z.

This is to the same dealer who quoted £5,000 to repair her turbo.

The lady is 55 yrs old, treated the car like her baby, and this b*****d saw her coming, another dealer out to line his pocket.

This is why this site is so important to newbies like me with there first Z.

B*stard!! Be interesting to see how much he outs the Z for with 'its new turbos!!'

You can buy a whole new engine with gearbox from the US for £5000.

That is criminal.
