Whats this!

Thought i'd check the air filters on my Zed last night.

After spending 10mins scratching my head, i evetually found it under the plate between the front lights.

Only to discover it wasnt a pair of flat air filters as i've been told but a large yellow foamed HKS filter!!

Has this been modified to accomodate this? How do i replace the filter / clean it?

HKS Induction kit. Nice surprise to find! :)

I think HKS do their own cleaning kit as well. But they should last as long as the car.

You can buy replacement foam inserts for HKS superpowerflows'.

Just unscrew the HKS logo on the front and it comes apart.

You should be be pleased the HKS unit is a sh*t load better than the standard jobbie! ;)

Do you reckon it'd give me a few more BHP than standard Filters?

I guess i could wash the foam then... (carefully).

Must get my car on a rolling road....

Pipercross do a foam filter cleaning kit. I used it on mine and filled my sink with sh*t:D . The replacement foam bits are'nt very dear though IIRC...

DO NOT clean the filter - well thats what HKS say anyway :D

Their replacement element is around £25.

The HKS air filters are supposed to be replaced every 10,000 miles. These foam filters also have a special oil coating to help trap crap, so I wouldn,t clean them if i were u, should replace them.

You can wash them carefully, but you must take care to a) rinse all the soap out b) dry them thoroughly &c) re-oil them, tool of chice for this one is K&N filter oil, its red and you can see where you have sprayed

Anybody know who supply these as mine is filthy and I've been considering cleaning / replacing it

BTW Is there supposed to be a splash guard under the filter as mine is open to the elements (Scarab bumper)

Thanks,

James

Sumo do them for about £22 inc postage and always have them in stock.
