kenwood mask key stereos: mine is buggered...(bit off topic)

erm. any of u car industry types...

my other car (the mundano) has one of these kenwood mask stereo (thing flips round). I bought the car in february. I've got the manuals for the stereo and even the wee 'passport'. However this appears to be bog all use...

Since I disconnected the battery, it is saying 'transmit 1'. and that's the lot.

I think I'm supposed to have a week key fob 'mask key' ? I have the remote control but no mask key.

Is there a way of getting it to work again ? I fecking hated the peice of sh*t anyway to be honest, but would rather not have to buy a new one (and new CD changer, as I wouldn't buy kenwood again)..

ideas on a postcard.

Same thing happened to my wife's car radio a while ago. She parked it at the station for the day and left the lights on. Battery flat enough to not be able to start the car when she returned. She phoned me and whilst waiting to be rescued listened to the radio untill that also stopped working. After that it's security code only - and like you nothing to sort it as it's second-hand and came with the car. Had to take it to the Auto electricians - Marine and Auto Electrics off Hadleigh Road - cost a tenner to put right.

good luck

jack, you've come to the rescue again. 40 quid + vat to remove the security from it at marine and auto. Much cheaper than a new set (350 quid with CD changer as I'm damned if I'd get another kenwood).

excellent.
