A nicly tuned 350ci Chevy, making close to 400hp and bags of torque in a z would make a nice car.

Dont be fooled into thinking all yank V8s are crude, try looking at the Northstar V8, from a caddy I think.

LOL and how much do you think a new Northstar v8 woudl cost?

The entire thing is pointless as you loose the point of buying a 300zx in the first place. Its all part of a package, you now want to get rid of one of the major parts of the package. Point is you can 400bhp and a shit load of torque out the current engine for far far far less - if you look at it like that. (i know theres no more tradition - ie i got the car based on its history)

surely the above equation means that a high torque = a high horsepower ??

 How can one be high and the other low, sibnce the only other variable is engine speed and most road cars rev to similar levels ??

LMFFAO surly everything writted on "how stuff works " is not always right lol - Theory is one thing - putting it into practise is a nother thing.

I think engine design has alot to do with it.

Take a vg30dett - great design - usually you get equal torque to equal power

Take RB26DETT - great design - torque no where near power on the same engine? Theory - its wonderfull eh :p

Dont get me wrong I've had a Z32 for 4 years and love it to bits and will nerver sell her but she's getting on (14 years) and things are breaking on a regular basis and usually the frgillity comes down to the engine so much so I feel I can't get the best out of the car due to reliabillity. Hence getting another shell and v8ing it therefore keeping the breed alive and on the road for many years to come.

By the way I have 4 Datsun/Nissans so I think I'm fairly loyal to the breed.

This is a personal thing, what your point is, is not by default my point. And I did not buy a Z just for the engine, which are fairly fragile judging from the many posts on this forum.

Ah yes, but for how long? And if you used it like you could use 400bhp of small block Chevy, about 9 months. And a small block Cevy engine making 400 bhp would leave a 400 bhp Z TT for dead in the first 50feet. And no turbo lag.

Good fun this, :-)
