Hub help

Hi all,

After 7 hours of biblical effort, finaly got the rear hub off the car to change the wheel bearing. But theres naf all wrong with it!

Checked all the bushes ball joints etc for wear/play - alls fine.

What else could cause about 1/2' of play in the rear n/s wheel?

PS. What a job:( you have to take off shed loads of stuff to release the hub.

Thanks

where is the play?? side to side or top to bottom?? (or both!?)

btw, only took me a couple of hours to remove & replace the rear hub, all arms, hicas link arm on mine! did you struggle a bit with yours??

Play in vertical & horizontal.

I thought a couple of hours would too the trick........but, the split pins broke in all the crown bolts so they had to be drilled out,

& every bolt was so tight (couldn't get the torque wrench in) i had to heat up a tube to fit spanner/ratchet & miss all the gubbins to get some grunt behind it:(

Made loads of new swear words, & theres spanners all over the place

I'll take it to mandella's next week for advice, i suspect the hub itself is suspect.

Group buy on plasters !

how do you know the bearing is ok now youve taken the hub off?? have you replaced the bearing & put it back together now??
